If Ms. Zinga believes that she has a realistic shot at winning the 17th CD race, then I’m afraid that both she and her right-wing supporters are at least a touch delusional.

Daley really hates Elk Grove, first the airport, now this. The only realistic place I can see them going is Denver. SF has higher costs than Chciago.
If these jobs do move to the city, does Blago count these as new jobs?

“I just get the sense that people think that it’s about time to try something else.â€
Zinga is right. Voters elected Evans automatically and were comfortable with him. While he was too liberal on too many issues, like Paul Simon, they disagreed with him but trusted him. Evans was elected during the Reagan backlash in 1982, and once in, stayed there. His liberal views were more acceptable back then, but after 25 years, he was reelected on his incumbancy, not his views.
Hare has convinced himself that Evans was supported for his liberal views. This is a huge mistake that is letting Zinga take moderate and conservative voters for a win.
If you take a look at Illinois, (outside Chicagoland), since Evans’ election, you see a state moving away from liberal views. By 2000, Evans could only stay in office by gerrymandering remaining Democrats.
What we will see in November is whether gerrymandering has created a District that will vote for a liberal again. The district was 54% democratic in 2004, so there is a lot of reason to think this will happen again.
But Hare is no Evans, and a majority of voters are willing to consider Zinga in 2006. She can win.

I could have done the prison study for free. We need more staff. We’ve had 2 ladies raped at work by inmates in the past 4 months. That is something the normal public doesn’t have to fear going to their job everyday. But this is our reality. And this study that was due months ago now is being delayed. I wonder why? But I guess Rod has bigger things on his mind now.

#1 – Why does it appear that the Governor is always going ‘out-of-state’ (California) to get studies done on thing concerning Illinois. Is this supposed to show that he is trying to be ‘fair and impartial’?
#2 – “The company was paid the final installment of its earnings in January, but has not handed over its findings.†You never make the final payment until you receive all of the goods and it is approved to your satisfaction. This is poor business practice.

I’ll bet that if the final version of the prison study is negative, it won’t be released until Nov. 8.

By not handing over the findings the administration can claim they only have “draft” versions and therefore block any attempts to FOIA the study, thereby controlling when (or if) the info gets out.

It’s telling Marshall wants to out Roskam on Social Security…. Iraq was supposed to be the issue.
