* One last look…
Oscar is not allowed inside the Statehouse, so that’s about as close as he’ll get to where I work during session unless somebody changes the rules.

Those are cool shots of Illinois’ Top Blog Dog.
Oscar already looks quite comfortable in the grounds…

You can train Oscar to be a service dog and he’ll gain full access.

wow, off leash. did he leave any editorials behind? how is Mr. O doing w classes?

That wouldn’t be ethical. Not gonna do it.
Comment by Rich Miller Monday, Aug 26, 13 @ 9:16 am
Perhaps call him a Legislative Service Dog? When they ask which member he’s here to assist, respond “All of them.”

Frankly, Capitol Fax could turn into Oscar Fax and just show new pictures all the time, and I would be just as happy with the blog as I am now.
Or just include Oscar-relevant photos in every post.

I had no idea there were standards on what kind of animals were allowed into The Dome. I’ve seen some pretty scary creatures in there.

Good for you… Too many folks do that now in days with all sorts of animals.
Comment by OneMan Monday, Aug 26, 13 @ 9:33 am
I can only presume Oscar is sticking his tongue out at the fountains and capitol dome, too.
Comment by Bill Monday, Aug 26, 13 @ 9:52 am
Letting Oscar into the Statehouse would probably raise the IQ level, and would definitely raise the cuteness level.

=== how is Mr. O doing w classes?===
Because of scheduling problems, we’ve had to withdraw until mid September.

Interesting that Oscar is not allowed in the Capitol. I’m with Word that maybe it is for his well-being that Oscar is not around the “scary creatures” one finds there on a session day. Some of the creatures are inside the chambers but many are outside the chambers near the rail.

True. Mushrooms are kinda like pets. More like cats, however. Sometimes difficult to herd. Then again, so is Oscar.

==After his bath==
Sometimes a bath is called for after visiting the Capitol.

We really want a picture of Oscar making a editorial statement on the lawn

Hogs at the trough. Lobsters at the rail. Progeny of the Grey Wolves. Snakes of all kinds. Squeezy.
Oscar seems like a friendly, gentle fellow — best to keep him out.

I’m tempted to create “Flat Oscar” and take him on an upcoming trip!
Comment by Amalia Monday, Aug 26, 13 @ 10:51 am
Oscar may not be able to enter the building, BUT he won’t be arrested for sharing his opinion on the Statehouse lawn. His owner on the other hand may enter the building but not overtly be as demonstrative as Oscar. As a team, I’d say you’ve got it covered.

Did he dig up any leads? Sniff out Squeezy? Take any brib…er, treats?
Comment by thechampaignlife Monday, Aug 26, 13 @ 11:28 am
And looking particularly handsome I must say….
Comment by Wallendar Monday, Aug 26, 13 @ 11:51 am
The fountains are a good place for a bath. Did he like it? snark/
Comment by Norseman Monday, Aug 26, 13 @ 12:32 pm
Agree with Wallendar. Oscar is looking quite handsome in the photos–and proud. I wonder whether he’s even aware of the calming effect he has on so many. I’ll bet if he were, he’d be holding his chin even higher–as it should be.

Oscar appears to have all of the attributes needed to be a quality Lt. Governor! Have you been fielding any calls?
Comment by Emmy Monday, Aug 26, 13 @ 1:37 pm
Two of Illinois’ finest - Oscar and Abe. Great pictures.
Comment by anonymoose Monday, Aug 26, 13 @ 2:18 pm
Rutherford did say he would be announcing his running mate soon, and Oscar was on bthe Statehouse grounds.Perhaps there is a connection…

I wouldn’t return those calls. Oscar ain’t running for anything.
Comment by Rich Miller Monday, Aug 26, 13 @ 3:30 pm
And, just in case he tries to run on his own, I have compromising pictures, like this one taken before his bath… https://capitolfax.com/wp-content/IMG_1310_01.jpg
Heh.

Now that is dirty pool! Or should I say, dirty bathwater.
Comment by Norseman Monday, Aug 26, 13 @ 3:51 pm
Norseman, I’m feeling a bit faint and can’t bare to look. Is it…is it…as…as bad as it seems?

*oh, I’m also holding up a silk white hanky in my other hand, looking unsure as to whether I need to wave it at Rich or use it to wipe the forthcoming tears…or both*
Comment by Anonymous Monday, Aug 26, 13 @ 3:58 pm
Love it Rich! I see Oscar as having his own press conference in the future. Additionally, he will be adorned with a red, white, and blue “outfit” during election time. LOL Love the photos!!
