* I received several text messages and phone calls about this automated poll last night…
Robo-calls in the 9th and 16th congresional districts, as well as parts of Lake County, hint that Congressman Adam Kinzinger (IL-16) could be considering a 2014 bid for Governor.
Tuesday night, Republicans in those Illinois districts began getting robo-calls that asked first about the four current Republican candidates seeking the nomination for Governor, then whether the person would support Kinzinger if he ran for Governor.
Given how relatively late in the GOP nomination process it is, there is little probability that Kinzinger will actually jump into the 2014 Governor’s race, and it is difficult to determine who or what group is behind the calls and the questions.
The Illinois Review writer goes on to list a bunch of theories about what’s going on, but I’ve made quite a few calls and don’t think that Kinzinger is considering a run. I’m just not sure what’s up.

Reminds me of when Jeb Bush polled his name in New Hampshire in 2012. Interesting.

My father also got the Kinzinger phone poll - he lives in near Southwest suburbs in Cook County. It probably was statewide to Republican primary voters.

for 10 years I’ve generally avoided anything Illinois Review, the champion.org and whatever that site was 10 years ago pre illinois review. It’s made things a lot better.

Shore- You’re thinking of Illinois Leader.

I guess “Review” sounds better than “Also-Ran” or “Afterthought”.

Kinzinger is exactly what the GOP needs to win. He is plenty conservative but not a wingnut. He has the ability to inspire voters. He’s never lost an election. Took out a Democrat incumbent by a huge margin and then turned around and two years later beat a Republican incumbent after redistricting by a big margin. He is the answer so many of us have been waiting for. I pray this is real interest on his part. He would turn the race upside down. So many former Republicans would at long last come home and D’s and I’s would have a solid choice in the general.

Not to exclude, shore, but we probably had alot more fun because you ignored us, too. I remember some really good debates on the Illinois Leader. It wasn’t conservative talk all the time, moderates were welcome, and both factions developed skills in getting along together and blogging.
I can see why some wouldn’t want to be exposed to something that “horrific.”

Has anybody in Rockford tracked down Don Manzullo yet for comment on the Kinzinger story? I bet his response would be colorful and unprintable.

This is a set up so he can announce he’s not running for Governor. Proft has started a trend.

Sorry for the typo. D-Lard was spelled correctly.

PLEASE don’t waste your time, Sir (or money, energy, etc…). Good Lord knows you have PLENTY of bigger fish to fry on a NATional, and INTERnational Scale, in the U.S. Congress…plus, it’d be wise to gain MUCH more tenure THERE first, before rushing into such a MASsive Undertaking HERE…!
