* Before leaving for vacation, we dropped Oscar the Puppy off at a “pet resort.” It was a nice place, very clean. Oscar had a two-room suite and his own flat-screen TV. And the price was more than reasonable, so, I figured, what the heck.
The “resort” owners posted pics of Oscar on their Facebook page. Here he is tearing around the place like he does when he needs to blow off some energy…
He made some new friends and played Frisbee…
Some of the other dogs couldn’t keep up with him, but this one turned out to be his bestest buddy…
And then he got a haircut…
Yikes!!!
Man, that’s short. He looks so different I wouldn’t recognize him on the street.
Oh, well, it’ll grow out.
Here’s a pic I took on our way home…
You might be able to see in his eyes how tired he was. He played very hard. But he’s happy to be home. I’m happy he’s home, too.

Don’t you think Oscar is a little young to have a tv in his room?

Seriously, Rich, you need to add a “like” button to some of these posts.

Rich:
Was that a place in Springfield? If so do you mind if I ask where? I might be in need of their services soon myself and need a reputable establishment.

No. Metro East area. We flew out of St. Louis.

The kennel is called “June’s Pet Resort” if anyone’s interested. It’s near Trenton.

Oscar cam should be on right at the end of session, kind of like how Puppy Bowl is on during the Superbowl.

How do you know you had a good vacation? You need a vacation AFTER your vacation.
Great pictures, Rich. The weekend can not come quick enough for both of you, I bet.
Thanks for sharing.

I’m really concerned about the quality of that place. Look at that those doors, cleary subpar and not up the standards Oscar should expect as being the Offical Cap Fax Canine.

=== Look at that those doors, cleary subpar ===
Funny.
My first impression of the place was that it smelled clean and it was quiet. They work hard at scrubbing and they keep the pets active and, therefore, tired, so there’s little to no barking. I really was impressed, historically accurate copper doors or not.

We got a puppy in June. I keep telling my wife that a tired dog is a happy dog.
Oscar should bookend every slow day.

Bet the only thing keeping you from staying there was the mandatory haircut, eh? Looks like a nice place. I do rather like his new friends. I think a play date is in order. BTW, How come Barton can’t watch Oscar too. Filling in means 100%.

Rich, can I borrow the banishment hammer?
Comment by Barton Lorimor Thursday, Sep 12, 13 @ 4:31 pm
Actually, Barton, that’s not a bad idea.

Wonderful photos Rich! You can tell that IL Oscar is smiling. You have been taken by this new family member…hook, line, and sinker. Barton the Babysitter? Excellent idea. Thank you for a glimpse at your new life as dad.
