Also, welcome back Rich and happy new year to all. I am investing heavy in popcorn stock this year… So, I think that Illinois can follow my lead as the Governor race will need plenty for all of us!

I hope Illinois resolves for 2014 that the three branches of Illinois government continue to try to work as partners in governing, and while its an election year, the best interest of the state, and the citizens of Illinois, is at the forefront of the leaders in those branches.

Make sure Oscar the Puppy gets more votes than FarmerBrucey

Illinois should resolve to put the state’s interests ahead of anyone’s political interest.
Like most resolutions, this will be completely forgotten in about 2 weeks.

More …”cowbell”?
To finally take that border row of Wisconsin counties, so Lake Geneva and Lake Delavan will finally belong to Illinois
Annex surrounding areas of Busch Stadium, including the Arch and City Hall, and change St. Louis, MO to St. Louis, IL.
Annex Davenport and Bettendorf so all four of the Quad Cities are in Illinois.

Turn all of the Bruce Rauner ads into a pilot for a sitcom NBC eventually uses to fill its Friday night time slot.

Since we don’t expect New Year’s resolutions to actually be implemented, I’m going with my wish list for Illinois:
1. Intelligently targeted cuts to (unneeded) state programs
2. Intelligently expanded revenue that does not target the most vulnerable
3. An end to scapegoating of government workers and retirees
4. Full funding of the pension systems in a legal manner
5. Expanded government workers where they can make a difference … areas like social services and program compliance
6. Agencies actually implementing corrections to audit findings
7. Honest court systems
8. Quinn firing all the Blago hold-overs aka honest government
9. Quinn to stop wasting state monies defending stupid actions
10. Someone w/o a political agenda to run for governor.

Tax reform.

Illinois should resolve to stop doing the Groundhog Day thing with our elections and stop electing the same crew and expecting different results.
It feels better when you stop banging your head against the wall.

That we elect Kirk Dillard as our Governor! I’m confident that he will be the sane Dillard we know and like and he will get Illinois on the right track!

mr/ms o willy
why do we want WI or Iowa? We can see the value of winning baseball but the rest seems unneeded
Comment by CircularFiringSquad Tuesday, Jan 7, 14 @ 2:07 pm
More compromisers/ less ideologues
Tax reform/ spending caps operationally enforced
More concern for integrity/ less settling for compliance with rules
Build on the Chicago region one of the few truly world-class economic zones.

An intelligent discussion about taxes, tax burdens, and converting tax breaks into specific grants or programs.

If Zion won’t come back to Nauvoo, gather the Icarian descendants.

We should resolve to publicly out all if the fake posters on sites like this that have been asked by the Dillard camp to say nice things about him.
Comment by Northsider Tuesday, Jan 7, 14 @ 2:19 pm
Excile from the state anyone that supports or voted for SB1, since its the product of gang mentality and 100% illegal. Why not fight it with an equally illegal act?

I hope you noted I am only annexing, Busch Stadium, the Arch, and City Hall. Missouri can keep the rest, thanks.

More bipartisanship at the IL Statehouse…
May Durkin continue to rid his party of extremists…
May a very strong and mature person run the Governors re-election campaign…
That the windows get cleaned at the Thompson Center…

Illinois should resolve to rid herself of annoying pests (I’m looking at you Bruce), round up the the zombies (aka Madigan’s patronage army) and adopt the a new forward looking State Motto: We Can’t Stand Pat.

You really turned me on the Quad Cities, Iowa can keep them.
The Wisconsin border counties, including Lakes Delavan and Geneva are just to “show off”, a vanity thing I guess …
Comment by Oswego Willy Tuesday, Jan 7, 14 @ 2:38 pm
I would NEVER wish to have St.Louis become a part of IL…I loathe their sports teams and their annoying fans even more…no thanks!
Comment by Loop Lady Tuesday, Jan 7, 14 @ 2:59 pm
Those WI counties are pretty cheesey. IL has some very nice lakes already We suggest leaving them with Scott Walker

Exercise more, eat better, lay off the sweets, organize the closets, quit smoking, dial down the drinking, call mom and dad more often, and just try to be a better state this year.
Comment by 47th Ward Tuesday, Jan 7, 14 @ 4:23 pm
That the Supreme Court judges will show that they are above corrupt politics in this State and will bring integrity and respect to at least one branch of Illinois government
Comment by Earl Shumaker Tuesday, Jan 7, 14 @ 5:04 pm
I hope the General Assembly passes fewer bills through both houses and the Governor signs fewer bills into law. We have too many laws and regulations as it is. The Illinois Compiled Statutes needs to slim down.
