Bruce Rauner Statement on State Budget
Bruce Rauner issued the following statement regarding passage of the phony state budget:
“We learned a number of very telling things today. One, the massive job-destroying 67% Quinn-Madigan tax increase that has robbed the average worker of more than $1,000 every year is rejected by a strong bipartisan majority. At the same time, the politicians in charge of Springfield again refused to make the structural reforms needed to fix state government. Instead, they passed the same type of broken, dishonest budget that career politicians in Illinois have been passing for years. This phony budget is an unsurprising, yet tragic, conclusion to five years of failure under Pat Quinn. It’s time to shake up Springfield.”

That’s the best you guys at Rauner World can come up with? Say, are they hiring over there? That ad sounds like it was written by a 22 year old just out of college who used the time honored approach of writing everything he knew about a subject as the answer to a question he had no answer for.

Gimme a break. No credit due. No tough, honest choices made. Real disappointment. Lack of courage or honesty to either approve the revenue of make the cuts. Sorry, but it’s the responsibility of those in charge, and unfortunately for IL this session was a failure.

Rauner could have made some real hay by putting out his own budget as a challenge. Of course, that assumes he could balance the budget, keep his spending promises, and not raise taxes…which, he knows he can’t. So, he’s left with a lame ad that has no substance.

Rauner realizes, I hope, he had nothing — absolutely nothing — to do with what happens in Springfield. The guy won a primary by a slim majority, but he’s still a nobody. He’s some business guy with a boatload of money.
I’d say, “He’s a tool,” but that’s not nice. It’s how I feel. And I can’t take seriously anyone who actually voted for him because he has a position on, well … nothing. But, okay, he won a primary. He has a lot of money. That’s about it.

Well, there’s a Sam Cooke song in here called “Shake” cackled the Box. The Animals did a pretty good cover, if you’d rather have that.
Forget it, said Sir Carhartt. Nobody knows that one.
Jukebox took one long last scan. I’ve got it! I’ve got it! the machine finally squealed.
What? scoffed Carhartt.
Elvis! Elvis! oinked the Box. “All Shook Up.” Here, I’ll spin it for you!
Carhartt listened, pondered, then cracked a wide smile.
Yeah, that’s it. I like it. “I’m your Guv….we’re all shook up.”
Won’t be cheap, observed the Jukebox. The Presley estate will want big bucks.
No problem! snickered Sir Carhartt.No problem! Here, here’s a quarter for your trouble!
But I only take dimes! protested the Jukebox.
Keep the change! laughed Sir Carhartt.
Beaming and radiant, Carhartt turned away. That’s it! That’s it! he shouted to no one. I’m your Guv! We’re all shook up!” Mmmm Mmmm Hey! Hey! We’re all shook up!

At the same time, the Campaign Crew in charge of Raunerites again refused to make the structural GOTV headway needed to fix Election Day. Instead, they passed on GOP support for broken-down, dishonest Raunerite rhetoric of 1/3 of the GOP GA in Illinois being corrupt for years. This phony rhetoric is an unsurprising, yet tragic, conclusion to fifteen months of failure under Bruce Rauner and his shaking up and hammering of Illinois.
