Enyart? Swap Enyart for Bustos, then you have more of my attention.

The NRCC might be a little skittish about Schilling’s inability to raise money.
Bustos is clobbering him there.

Senger is hurting even worse than Schilling for money.

You are On It - wordslinger -, good insight at another angle.
Maybe this is more about signaling to Senger and Schilling to “step up” than it is about just the Ads.
“You want our help, raise some cash…”

To the Update,
Enyart on the GOP side is the head scratcher, and the monies that both sides are going to drop on the Davis seat is going to be fun to keep an eye on.

I’m not shocked by the Enyart buys by both parties. They probably have polling showing Enyart is in some trouble something which many locals have believed for awhile. Enyart hasn’t been very attentive to the constituents in his district until recently. Plus, his district is considerably less Democratic in a non-presidential year.
Comment by Hey There Wednesday, Jun 18, 14 @ 12:38 pm
@Hey There - 12th District is barely Democrat in a Presidential year - Obama won it 50-48. Should be a big drop off in turnout in East St. Louis (among other places) to boost Bost.
Comment by DuPage Expat Wednesday, Jun 18, 14 @ 1:27 pm
Why are people surprised about Enyart?
Granted this is a Bost poll, but definitely suggests the race will be competitive, which is what I thought everyone believed from the get go.

===Why are people surprised about Enyart?===
Schilling, Bustos, and Davis I have as Top Tier.
Enyart and Foster 2nd Tier.
I just see it that way. - wordslinger - points out the money/financials might change that order in the minds of both Congressional Committees, but I am not seeing/feeling Enyart or Foster moving…

Bost’s district almost certainly has better numbers than Schilling. I’d be surprised if it didn’t.
Bustos from a distance appears to be an enthusiastic candidate and hard worker. Enyart, not so much.
Senger has a positive poll so I thought that might make for some money commitments. But maybe NRCC doesn’t want a spending war there.
Of course, none of these reservations are commitments.

If Bustos is going to have a problem, it will be with base Democratic voters. As a constituency representative I get the impression she’s in strong shape. I think overall these ad buys make a lot of sense. Other than it’s depressing to see so much money being slung around for a few Congressional races.
Comment by Angry Chicagoan Wednesday, Jun 18, 14 @ 2:04 pm
I hear that Enyart’s campaign fired its campaign manager a few days ago. That has to be the third or fourth CM Enyart’s had since early last year. I wonder if the new campaign manager will be a DCCC-selected person from out-of-state.

If Democrats lose the schneider race they’ll be destroyed nationally. I can’t see Davis losing in an off year-2016 would be a different bear.
left out of this discussion again, is the superpac spending which frankly blows everything else out of the water but that $$$ may go to the senate fights in the south and the rauner/quinn fracas.
That’s a depressing list of names and worse when you consider how the congressional delegation is supposed to be a launching pad for mayoral, senatorial and gubernatorial runs. oof.

Maybe some of the bigger news here is the size of the reserve. Someone must think the air time will be pretty scarce in a few months.

Gosh, those St. Louis buys are expensive per Illinois voter. I understand that you have to do it, but ouch.

A guy - Wow, I see what you did there. Way to scare Team Quinn. I’m sure they’re cowering under their desks.
Comment by Soccermom Wednesday, Jun 18, 14 @ 3:20 pm
- Soccermom -, that is the Tom Hagen treatment, but when Rauner and Raunerbots try to use it? It always seems contrived or a veiled… something.
Comment by Oswego Willy Wednesday, Jun 18, 14 @ 3:36 pm
Soccermom, you have x-ray vision. You saw something I didn’t intend. There are a large number of higher profile races in the Chicago media market. Given how the primary whipped up media spending, my observation was really just pointing out that some candidates didn’t get some of the time slots they would have preferred. In some instances, this created an expensive shift to broadcast TV. The national guys have more early dough. They can afford the reserves and potentially the surrender fees.
I think Team Quinn will have and will spend plenty of money.
Willie, did anyone ever tell you the whole “Tom Hagen” thing is really kinda dumb. I want to send you a movie gift card so you can start quoting movies from after the turn of the century. I know there’s a multi-plex in Oswego. You need to get there more often. At the very least, work that On Demand a little. eek man.

Last, first, yeah, those Godfather movies, a complete waste if time.
As for Tom Hagen and Bruce, that quote Bruce had, wanting to know weaknesses, fears, and the image of Hagen at Fredo’s brothel; that is Rauner’s quote to a tea.
We could talk “Slip and Sue” quotes, but…lol
