* If Joe Walsh was hoping to gin up a right-wing backlash at WIND radio for kicking him off the air, it ain’t working…
Tomorrow’s Plainfield Township GOP Fundraiser that was to feature radio talk show hosts Dan Proft and Joe Walsh will now be featuring Proft only.
Sources tell Illinois Review the change came after Proft informed the organizers that he would not share the stage with Walsh.
When asked, Proft told IR:
“It is very simple. I am not going to participate in events with individuals who think it is okay to purposely and repeatedly use the N-word and other racial epithets as part of what they believe is appropriate public (or, for that matter, private) discourse.
People can and should think freely, speak freely and freely associate as they like. I choose to reject the thinking and the language Joe Walsh unapologetically evinced and freely not associate with it.”
In response, Walsh told IR that he would continue to “combat political correctness.”
Walsh’s 15 minutes are just about up, methinks.

Wow. When even Dan Proft won’t stand next to you…

Plus, why would right-wing radio yakker Proft want to promote another wannabe right-wing radio yakker?
There’s only so much hot air in the room.

I wonder what Proft is running for.

Where’s Joe the Plumber nowadays? Maybe Proft could co-host with him.

I doubt either will be in Plainfield Township, but if the snide reference works for you…just keep doing your thing for “our party”

You just keep defending those racist remarks by Ives, and her Moderate buddy she chose to support over a Caucus Mate.
Ives is not for building “My Party”, but Leader Durkin is. Thank goodness.

Durkin is supporting both. Enthusiastically. I don’t support any racist remarks by anybody– you know too little to know what a clown remark that is. Stay tactless..

Wordslinger is right.
This has nothing to do with Proft being outraged by Walsh’s racism.
Proft has embraced racists as a matter of routine. When did he criticize Bundy (the rancher)? Did Proft stand up against Don Sterling? Heck, last week Proft was outraged that the patent office would not protect “Redskins.”
This is about the fact that Proft wants one less far right competitor.
That’s it, and nothing more.

Gooner for the win. Blood in the Water, Fire in the Sky. What is now called ” far right” used to be called traditional American values, though.

Sometimes Rep. Ives makes me cringe when she says something. This time she didn’t. She’s absolutely on target. It is a shameless charade. You can use a super majority to get this piece of garbage passed, but not your budget. Brilliant. What a disturbing legacy this will be when it’s looked back on. ===
===There was nothing racist about what she said at all. You only read that into it if you want to. Shameless!===
Sounds like defending racist remarks when ya say…
===This time she didn’t.===
That Ives…

That said, Walsh pulled a garbage publicity stunt and should be called on it.
Comment by The Prince Tuesday, Jun 24, 14 @ 1:32 pm
Maybe Fritz Pfister out of Springfield could fill in for Walsh. He’s kind of a Fox News wannabe.
Comment by Bemused Tuesday, Jun 24, 14 @ 1:48 pm
I listened to Walsh’s explanation for his rant. While he made some points that some words can be said by some folks and not others and some words (redskins) are supposed to be in the same league as other words (won’t be even initialed by me) - he chose a way of doing it such that no one sees his points - they only hear the words he says. Repeatedly, Pointedly. Persistently.
If Proft’s refusal to appear on stage with Walsh is about Proft not wanting the competition, why agree to appear with him in the first place?
Comment by dupage dan Tuesday, Jun 24, 14 @ 2:03 pm
Frankly, Walsh is funded by Richard Uihlein - the same person who funds Proft and Tillman. Tillman controls Uihlein and so does Proft. If Walsh is still on WIND - due to Uihlein’s money - this is all hooey anyway.
Comment by anon Tuesday, Jun 24, 14 @ 2:06 pm
Proft had no problem playing the gay card in the Sandack race and hate is not a strong enough word for happened there either.
Comment by anon Tuesday, Jun 24, 14 @ 2:07 pm
I’m not surprised. Rauner is trying to get votes in African American communities, so Proft all of a sudden develops a conscience? Yeah, right.
Comment by Wensicia Tuesday, Jun 24, 14 @ 2:12 pm
Does Walsh really think anybody gets his supposed point about political correctness by using the N word over and over and over?
Comment by Demoralized Tuesday, Jun 24, 14 @ 2:22 pm
It’s good to know that Proft will draw the line somewhere. He’s such a nasty political combatant otherwise.
Comment by Chicago Cynic Tuesday, Jun 24, 14 @ 3:00 pm
Good for Dan Proft.
Joe Walsh’s 15 minutes have been up for a long time. People may not like Proft’s politics but he is at least intelligent and can form cogent sentences. He and Walsh have not been sympatico on much since, well, ever from what I can gather.
Comment by Responsa Tuesday, Jun 24, 14 @ 3:13 pm

I would still maintain she didn’t. CSU has a horrible graduation rate. You interpreted racism. That’s typical of you. It’s just a poorly run school that victimizes students and tax payers with corrupt operating practices. Not a great place. Lousy example, but any example will do for you. And then you repeat your silly conclusions. Good thing you sit in the front row. It spares you the view of what everyone behind you thinks.

(Sigh)
===I would still maintain she didn’t.===
So you are defending remarks that the underpinning is racist? But you don’t condone racist remarks, lol
===CSU has a horrible graduation rate. You interpreted racism.===
I can read. Nothing to really interpret. The underpinning is quite clear.
===That’s typical of you.===
To read, thanks.
===It’s just a poorly run school that victimizes students and tax payers with corrupt operating practices. Not a great place. Lousy example, but any example will do for you. ===
Or Rep. Ives, and you defending racist remarks made by her. I did nothing but read. You defended.
===And then you repeat your silly conclusions.===
Maybe you need to read that Post again and the Comments. You were defending. Not silly actually.
===Good thing you sit in the front row. It spares you the view of what everyone behind you thinks.===
And the proverbial shot.
You defended racist remarks. Read the comments and other comments.
I do like you sticking by your guns, both ways;
Never defending racist remarks, but stand up for your comments….defending racist remarks.
Comment by Oswego Willy Tuesday, Jun 24, 14 @ 4:49 pm
Well there. Took you a while to not make a point. Typical.
“Nothing to really interpret. The underpinning is quite clear”.
Go look up “underpinning” and “interpret” and laugh at this sentence as much as I did. You can’t rationalize a dopey point. I’m as far from racist as you can get. Don’t defend it, and I’m even insulted when someone brings it up as a “red herring” in a discussion. Such innuendo is why this “ism” still exists. Grow up.

I have no doubt that both Walsh and Proft are eyeing Kirk’s senate seat very closely.
Why wouldn’t they?
Dude’s got to make a living and separating rich nebbie chronic victims from their hondos are the whole brand/business model. Give them the red meat, they give you money.
As a Republican United States Senator, Kirk backed gay marriage and gun safety after Newtown. Not a popular guy at CPAC. Plus, he, obviously, has had some health issues.
In the age of Citizens United, you don’t think there are some whack-a-doo sugar daddies out there who would want to take this apostate down?
Walsh and Proft know that there are, and they will ring them up, not necessarily to win, but at least to get some free meals, travel and brand-building out of it.
Comment by wordslinger Tuesday, Jun 24, 14 @ 5:01 pm
You should really read that Post again;
You defended the underpinning racist remarks. Say all you want, jump up and down, point to me, blame me, but the Post and your comments, welp… you own them, and you doubled down.
Can’t unring that bell. You did.
Proft would rather support Ives than share a stage with Walsh… That is comedy all the way around.
Comment by Oswego Willy Tuesday, Jun 24, 14 @ 5:04 pm
Own this Willie: You’ve set a new record for how many times you can lose the same argument. And your comments never prompt me to jump up and down or point or any animation whatsoever. As far as it goes is a “head scratch”.
