The 2010 Brady Campaign/Aka Jumpin’ Jason really missed big time…no 5th amendments, no witnesses under oath and the big bird flip to the USA, bet Sandecky and Durkie are rechecking tax returns now.

I have set through some pointless hearings. but this one has to top the list. I love watching lawyers try to be perry mason. would it be unconstitutional to close all law schools so we could rid society of this plague? the federal government is investigating. it is that simple.

yo,
the only thing worse is watching lawmakers pretend to be lawyers.

It’s not a kangaroo court - it’s a court of prancing elephants. LOL!

I keep going back to asking the Republicans “What’s the point?”. It’s not like the Dems are stopping the investigation.

Neither side looks too good. Luckily only the media and political junkies are watching.

Barickman is a pro…heads above the rest.
Comment by Fan Wednesday, Jul 16, 14 @ 2:34 pm
I had always heard such great things about Barickman but he has embarrassed himself with his conduct today. It’s all about political grandstanding with him and most of the Republicans. Today was a silly bit of political theater and I don’t know what the GOP rationalization is for their conduct. They will have the perp walk in 90 days in the heat of the campaign. It’s a potential perfect political storm moment for Rauner and the GOP. They just seem to have difficulty delaying gratification…like children.

Trying to appoint Barickman as chair was an especially boneheaded manuveur in a hearing full of them.

Good grief. If anyone could screw up a winning hand, it is the Illinois GOP.

It’s going well. It could have gone better had they called Bill Holland to appear and summarize his findings, and why he didn’t pursue certain avenues. That might have led to some interesting questions.
But wasting a ton of people’s time, and the political grandstanding, with the added benefit of Jason Barickman channelling his inner Greg Marmalard and Bill Brady relitigating the 2010 campaign and Ron Sandack reminding me (weirdly) of a bizarro John Fritchey, this was very well done.
Well done as in over cooked.

this is beyond comical at this point

This thing resembles a post-2005 Adam Sandler movie: only about five total guffaws in a way-too-long feature.

I couldn’t vote. “It’s going badly” wasn’t a choice.
If the point was to uncover something about corruption, it was a complete failure. If it was to score political points, the only thing it did was get another news day. No matter how they screw it up, it will continue to be bad news for Quinn.
Barickman was embarrassingly bad. Sandack was pretty good. Brady was not paying enough attention to ask the right questions.
Overall, however, it was mostly disrespectful to the committee, and that is bothersome. Also, it would have been better if Madigan hadn’t seemed at the center of some attorneys’ tactics. They could have done just as well without his apparent input.

The only winner today was Bruce Rauner. The Republicans looked bad, the Democrats looked bad, and Pat Quinn, being the unspoken central topic, came out the worst.
Sometimes you win by not being part of the discussion.

Voted It’s Going Well, as in “It’s going really well, honest!”
Solid entertainment. Lewis must have his face-palm down pat by now.

Couldn’t vote. I don’t know what that was.

===Well done as in over cooked===
I tried to warn them - 47th Ward -.
To the “Question”
Pamphleting ministers speaking partisanly…and with Quinnochio and “Rod”
Trying to oust Rep. Mautino
Oberweis saying “it’s politics” constantly and saying “Democrat Madigan”
Bringing MJM up as an angle to attack, along with questioning Rep. Drury, a colleague, in a less that collegial way, making Drury look..,sympathetic.
Rep. Rita asking, “What is the end game?” to the GOP Members.
It was My Party that “owns” this whole Dopiness, and they were by far the most partisan, and were called on it, and after a 3 hour “30 minute break”… they change their tune. Why?
Partisan optics of … Politics.
Those talking points after the “break”…looked pretty familiar …to me!
Easy vote. My Party.

it was embarrassing for the state of Illinois…

It’s bad. It’s futile. But the good news is that very few beyond the Cap Fax family will even know it took place. It’s the Feds who will take the news cycle one day down the road, one way or the other.
Comment by Responsa Wednesday, Jul 16, 14 @ 7:43 pm
I guess the best part of the hearing was learning that Scott Drury was former Federal prosecutor. I’ve never heard him say that…ever…ever. As soon as I heard Mautino call him I was thinking, OH NOOOOOO, please don’t inflame this man’s ego any more than it already is.
