“A parent’s worst nightmare”

Posted in:

* Rat droppings and roaches found in an opponent’s daycare center? No background checks for staff? Open electrical outlets? Wet and soiled bedding for infants and toddlers?

Oof.

It’s not the most professionally made, but it is surely the hardest-hitting YouTube campaign video I’ve seen since the primary. And it’s from the Madison County Treasurer’s race. Watch it

If they can improve the production and get that on cable, it’ll be a killer spot.

  1. Sounds like the Rauner nursing homes and disability homes.

Except Rauner’s are worse, because people died.

  3. Turn out the lights, the party’s over for this fella, even without spiking the production. I’d do it anyway. Gives you the willies.

  4. Ok, that was good, Rich, your right, a little clean up, good cable spots and call it a day. I’m guessing the next step is mom’s with the violation report will be showing up at debates demanding he explain his facilities.

  7. Boom goes the dynamite! That’s a good piece, if there is money to actually get it out to the people, goodnight Mr. Prenzler.

  9. Reminds me of this old ad when Alderman Cullerton ran in 2011.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkDyec3GNJQ

Calling opponent a slumlord, an image of him with a rat on his shoulder, etc.

It’s rare to be able to hit your opponent so hard, but in a seemingly fair manner.

  10. What’s that about turnabout it fair play?

  11. One can only imagine what’s coming down the pike for Rauner. Will make this Prenzler video look like Sesame Street.

  12. Prenzler picked a big fight with the St Clair County Democrats when he accused Treasurer Charlie Suarez of rigging tax auctions like the former Madison County treasurer, Fred Bathon, did. Prenzler had weak evidence against Suarez but he wanted to do the hit because Charlie is his opponent’s brother in law. He wanted to taint the Suarez name a bit.
The problem with this plan is that it galvanized two county Democrat parties against him. And the St Clair County Democrats aren’t guys to screw around with. Prenzler can expect this ad to be all over cable. And he can bet this is only the beginning.

  14. Prenzler has not picked up the populist knife can cut both ways. Good spot but Prenzlers opponent is not Treasurer material.

Comment by Madison Tuesday, Aug 5, 14 @ 6:19 pm

  15. Prenzler is not only not Treasurer material, he simply isn’t fit for public office.

  16. Prenzler also addressed a website noting that St. Louis daycare Good Shepherd Academy, of which Prenzler is listed as the president and chairperson, had more than 50 violations following inspections from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services last year. The website shameonyoukurt.com cites two reports from 2013 outlining violations, but Prenzler said all those violations were addressed within 30 days of the findings. Prenzler also said the 17 violations discovered in the most recent inspection in May have since been corrected.

“(Former Madison County Treasurer) Frank Miles made similar unfair attacks four years ago,” Prenzler said. “I think that these attacks are deflecting from my record as treasurer.”

    — pretty sure he just admitted to the rats and roaches… only until he got caught.
