Ms. Franklin, indeed.
Power, grace, passion, Ms. Franklin delivers like few did, can or ever will. Wow.
I just closed my eyes and soaked it in. Great choice.

Getaway from Earth, Wind and Fire could be appropriate these days. Or, Thats the Way of the World!
Aretha is an excellent selection.

Finally something one can listen to and enjoy
BTW 1968 was the year Ms. Franklin was incorrectly informed that the SIU Arena was not a sellout and she stiffed the Salukis
We cannot excuse the snub, but love the tunes

Aretha is the best. She was in the mold of Big Maybelle, Ruth Brown, and Big Mama Thornton, but what made her stand out was her range. She could soar vocally without ever losing the hint of breathy sex appeal that seemed ever present. Damn good choice this morning.

Wow–you do take requests (at least, I think you do). Thanks, Rich.
If I may be so bold, how about The Message? Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five never gets old.
It’s like a jungle sometimes it makes me wonder how I keep from going under…

Hey Nineteen
That’s ‘Retha Franklin
She don’t remember
The Queen of Soul
It’s hard times befallin
The sole survivors
She thinks I’m crazy
But I’m just growing old

Great choice. Not a bad piano player either. That Muscle Shoals magic made her a star. Here’s another Muscle Shoals soul singer who’s not very well known but should be.

Back in the day I successfully dumped an Association 45 by trading it for an Aretha 45, moving way up on the music food chain. She was, and is……apparently the new music coming out is great…..a wonder. Is that thin white guy in the black suit standing behind her hilarious?!? he’s so stiff!!!!
