* From US Rep. Tammy Duckworth…
My husband Bryan and I are thrilled to announce that we are the proud parents of a baby girl. Abigail O’kalani Bowlsbey was born on November 18. Bryan and I were deeply honored that Senator Akaka acted as Hawaiian elder and selected her middle name. We are grateful for the love and support of our family and friends. We also appreciate the respect for our privacy during this important moment in our lives.

Congressman Duckworth,
While I disagree with you politically, I admire your determination and fortitude. You are an inspiration to many……including me. And clearly your cohorts in Congress are admirers, as well.
Congratulations on the new arrival.

Congrats Tammy and Bryan and welcome to the world Abigail! Tammy you are such a great combination of policy, personal touch, tenacity and resale fashion magic. Abigail is lucky to have such wonderful role models as parents!

Personally very happy for Tammy and her husband and their new healthy baby girl. I have prayed for this outcome. Got to know her working very hard against her in her initial run for Congress. She was the opponent, but I liked and admired her courage and fortitude. Was thrilled to hear she was expecting, but also very worried for her. Today’s news is joyful. I may work against her in the future again, but I’ll always be for her in her personal life.

Tammy, I’m sort of surprised you didn’t name her Nancy in honor of, well you know. But seriously, congratulations on the arrival of little Abigail. There are things (like babies) that are so so much more important than politics.
