I see the head of communications at the tollway is trying to save her job.

Kinda wish BNSF would have spent the money on making sure their trains run on time. I don’t think they’ve gone a rush hour without something going wrong this year.

How many of these donations were from south of I 80 or even better, south of Springfield? Just wondering.

I recognize a number of lobbyists (in either their own name or the business group) that live in the Springfield area. A couple of them used to be neighbors at one time.

One name I am pretty sure is the wife of a doctor here in Bloomington-Normal.

What was it Rauner said about unions buying influence with the Governor’s office? I guess those comments do not apply in this case. oh, I see; these are individuals and businesses. Well, that’s different, then. Never mind.

I see LaFarge on the list. I don’t know if they are currently on the statewide contract list for aggregate. But they were several years ago and then were taken off. They control most of all of the limestone, white rock, pits in the northern half of the state. While they might currently not be doing business with the state a donation could help change that. It might take a donation of more than $10,000. There are others on the list like Enbridge who has a major pipeline across the state who could also benefit from their donation.
I think it would be very difficult to weed out donations from sources that have some connection to jobs or business with the state. So I don’t have an issue with that, but Rauner needs to change his position that he won’t accept any money from such sources. It’s hypocritical.
