Why Why Why? Advice for Gov …. Bruce .. you won man, just govern. Blago couldn’t help himself in his first months few months either which was a big mistake like he was still on the campaign trail. Also, know that behind the “smoked filled” doors of the Budgeteer meetings, the biggest defenders of many state programs are Republicans - especially those from University towns. Bruce has got to worry know about getting GOP votes for his awful budget proposal - without depending on Dem support. Bruce, you just gave MJM plenty of reason to stick around a little bit longer. He’s going to have fun with you. Good luck!

Too much, too soon from Herr Bruce. I smell a rat. He hasn’t even given his State of the State speech yet. Yesterday there was already an article about him in Salon so he is gaining nationwide attention with his sharp comments.
I say he’s up to something…big…like throwing his hat in the ring for 2016.
Sometime in the not too distant future he will get a midnight call from the Koch’s after they grow tired of the other annoying candidates.
If he doesn’t get in in 2016 then the next chance won’t be until 2024, assuming the 2016 winner will be re-elected, and a lot can happen in 8 years.
If nothing else a 2016 run would put him up for consideration for VP.

SOTS speech will be a doozy. He will probably insult and go after every group in the State. Everyone from AFSME members to mental health providers and even his Republican Road Builders will be angry starting next Wednesday.. I hear the SOTS speech will blow the dome off the capitol, and then the budget speech will blow up the rest of the building…Can’t wait for Durkin and Leader Radogno to put 47 and 20 respectively on the Gov’s budget in May..

In Bruces world, only Billionaires should be able to give unlimited amount of money to political campaigns not organizations with elected representatives giving a collective voice to working families. BTW unions do not have unlimited dollars, we only have as much as members are willing to contribute. However Bruce has literally unlimited dollars from the investment fees he made off the same workers pension funds. Ahhh hypocrisy so sweet and delicious. Now its movie time and dinner for Bruce with all those participants in the “corrupt bargain” aka downstate legislators.

This is what you get when you fill your core admin team with Washington staffers. They have experience supporting a legislator - not administrator - in a hyper-partisan arena whose main goal is to echo Fox and soothe Kochs.

A few people making 34,000 a year neither caused nor can resolve a 9,000,000,000 problem.

So he’s doing exactly what he said he would do in the Primary. If you watched his primary speeches and stumps he told everyone this was coming. If you looked at the way he did personal business, this was coming. Just because he took 4 months off of the harsh rhetoric and had his wife make fun of his clothes doesn’t mean he changed. None of this should be a surprise.

Imagine two tickets headlined by Hillary and Rauner in 2016…the nation would be guaranteed at least 4 more years of a president from Illinois. Has one state ever had a native consecutively sit in office that long? (aside from JFK)

I do not believe that the GOP presidential primary is ready for a candidate who supports gay rights, abortion rights and immigration reform.

If he wants to be president of the United States, he should convince Kirk to step aside after the primary, appoint himself as the Senate candidate. He will languish in Springfield.

These people don’t know how to govern because they let go of a lot of the talent at the agencies without an interview! Yes, every agency has some hacks, but Bruce let go of some good folks who are now disgruntled and won’t be coming back! Good luck Illinois! I wish I could move…

Why is Rauner claiming the average pay for State Employee is over $60,000? According to the Ledger the 2014 Payroll for State Employees was $5,185,903,948. With 119,602 employees the average pay would be under $43,500.
That does not include many variables needed to tell the whole story, I admit. But looking at the breakdowns on SJR, I think the state provides a model for payrolls for private industry where the gap between the lowest and highest paid is far more extreme. If the pay is compared to education and experience, I doubt that we would be called overpaid.

Rauner said the biggest conflict of interest is unions giving campaign cash to pols after he and a few of his supporters spent tens of millions of dollars to influence politics. Okey-dokey, then.

The talk of Rauner running for president in 2016 is silly, although I’m sure he’s flattered by it.

That race has been well underway for some time now, and the early, filtering caucuses and primaries are in less than a year.
