* Wow…
Attorney General Lisa Madigan and Randolph County State’s Attorney Jeremy R. Walker today filed a two-count criminal information against Drew Peterson, 61, an inmate at the Menard Correctional Center, charging him with one count of solicitation of murder for hire and one count of solicitation of murder, both Class X felonies.
The charges allege that between September 2013 and December 2014, the defendant solicited an individual to carry out a murder-for-hire plot against Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow. The defendant made an initial appearance on the charges today at the Randolph County Courthouse. A preliminary hearing is set for March 3 at 10 a.m.
The case will be jointly prosecuted by the Illinois Attorney General’s Office and the Randolph County State’s Attorney’s Office.
The public is reminded that these are merely charges and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
Cue the national media firestorm in three… two…

He is the poster child for bringing back the death penalty in Illinois.

Why don’t we just give him his own reality show, and let him pay for his incarceration.

This guy is in real trouble now.

That is one scary, sick man. He is where he belongs for sure. If convicted, he will add more time to his stay in prison.

Crazy, and apparently not the sharpest tack in the box, either.

Is it unusual for the Illinois Attorney General’s office to try criminal cases? I don’t remember similar instances of the IL AG’s office involved in criminal cases. For example in the past when AG’s have been accused of failing to prosecute Illinois political corruption they have said that criminal prosecutions are handled by either the locals or the feds.

Does this mean there will be a sequel to the TV movie where Rob Lowe portrayed Drew Peterson?
Comment by Aldyth Monday, Feb 9, 15 @ 11:57 am
And yet drew will probably get more marriage proposals this week than he did last week!

He gets media attention, plus out of stir for court appearances.
If he gets to trial, he’ll be out for hours for days on end, get some different chow, and, again, more media attention.
What else does be have to do?

This Drew guy is really a character isn’t he. Thank God for penitentiaries.

===a sequel to the TV movie where Rob Lowe portrayed Drew Peterson.===
The creepy Rob Lowe with cable instead of DirectTv would be perfect for that role. Or maybe the paranoid Rob Lowe?

Another TV movie coming out of this?

No, the AG’s office will often assist the local State’s Attorney, especially in some of the less populated southern Illinois counties, or actually be the lead in special circumstance cases like this one.

Just noticed Aldyth’s comment.

This falls in the category of you couldn’t have written a screenplay like this because no one would think it was realistic.

He should be his own thing.
Hi, I’m Rob Lowe, and I have Directv.
And I’m Drew Peterson Rob Lowe, and I have cable.

Change of pattern for Drew, he usually marries them first.

=the AG’s office will often assist the local State’s Attorney=
But the AG has very limited authority to initiate criminal cases.

More like, “And I’m Drew Peterson Rob Lowe and I have *a* cable. That I plan to wrap around the neck of my NEXT wife.”

Send him to Gitmo for incarceration and tell the “folks” there he’s the chief cartoonist for Charlie Hebdo…Sorry, I think he’s a monster..

What an amazing combination of hubris and ineptitude this man displays. His legacy should be a new descriptor for a personality disorder that encapsulates the extremity of his sociopathy…

‘But the AG has very limited authority to initiate criminal cases.=
Lisa Madigan explained that Randolph County State’s Attorney requested assistance from the AG’s office. Also that Will County SA can’t handle the case (for obvious reasons).

between this new case and the two guys who were just convicted of killing a police officer and wounding his father, remind me again why we don’t have the death penalty?
Comment by Amalia Monday, Feb 9, 15 @ 4:12 pm
This is good for the sunglasses industry, but only if he brings back his
“dream” team that lost a case that probably could have been won with lawyers who kept their eye on the ball instead of the spotlights.

What a whack job! I can’t wait to hear more of the details around the the plot ….

–remind me again why we don’t have the death penalty–
It was all those dudes who were arrested, tried, convicted, sentenced to death and then later, DNA evidence proved they couldn’t have done it.
It was in all the papers, Amalia.
There’s your reminder.
You’re welcome!
