* I’ve tried two or three times over the past week to get Speaker Madigan to talk about why he is not voting on bills this year. No luck, except he joked in agreement last week when I suggested that part of it was to mess with my head. Reporters asked him about it today…
Madigan was also asked why he's not voting very often this session. "Confused," was his response. About what? He just laughed.

I’m most certainly confused as well.

Its so they can’t use his voting record against him when he runs for Governor next time.

If your intuition, your gut, tell you that something is amiss, it’s probably amiss. Evasive, confusing answers that reveal little suggest that he’s hiding something. He’s plotted and is implementing a strategy that he won’t reveal. Gov. Rauner thinks he knows; but he’s being schooled…

I think it’s to keep Rauner from using him as fodder for his “corrupt” legislative leaders rants. Your move Rauner; and your budget. What’s it gonna be?

These are not the votes you are looking for.
Move along.

He doesn’t want to “be for something before he was against it” or vice versa.
That’s a guess. Only the Shadow knows.

Has anyone considered that he might just be voting when he’s physically on the floor? Lots more uncontrollable cameras in the galleries nowadays

And the great leadership in Springfield marches on.
How have we gotten to the point that this is acceptable…that it’s okay that our “representatives” are constantly playing a game.
How about enough games and more solutions.
Enough to make a man sick…

Dupage, why should he waste time voting when Rauner’s secret working groups are going on? The more he’s voting, the less secretive things are going on!

He’s following his plan/strategy that none of us have figured out yet. I’m curious about it but he doesn’t do anything that is not according to plan
Comment by Publius Wednesday, May 13, 15 @ 12:51 pm
He’s not voting until Brucie actually introduces a bill.

More time lost we can never get back…how about some detail on rental payments for House/Senate GOP votes? did boys get more than girls?

Maybe “Confused” was a question, not a statement.

That’s snark, right?

His non voting needs to be used against him next election. Wasn’t he elected to represent his constituents. He’s doing them a disservice. Any other legislator would be getting fried for not taking any votes. I hate that HE gets away with everything. It’s not right.

Finally, a politician that spoke the truth!

MOM seems to get the benefit of the doubt so often. He’s as dangerous as Rauner. If he’d used some of his influence to get better Dem candidates in the last general election, perhaps Rauner wouldn’t be governor.

When other legislators are able to bring the bacon home to their district like he can, then maybe they can skip a few votes too.

“Confused”. They say doing puzzles can help combat the onset.

I am sure if Madigan’s people needed one vote in order to pass a bill, he would provide it. If his vote is not needed, who cares if he votes or not?

Wouldn’t put it past his current opponents to legally attack those who might cast his vote at his request. It’s a long- standing courtesy afforded the Speaker and Minority Leader.

Nothing to me feels like laughing, especially on the way our state has been run. Madigan, Blago, Ryan, just to name a few. We Illinoisans vote this group plus others into office. The joke is on all of us. But I’m not laughing.
Comment by mokenavince Wednesday, May 13, 15 @ 5:18 pm
I think Walker is on to something. How much time does Madigan spends in the chamber, anyway?
Would be a “huge scoop” for someone to show that Madigan wasn’t actually pushing his own button.
