The talk of the primary challenge is premature. The “challenger” is a 20-something tea partier. The poor guy is being put up to it by extremely local out-of-power types who can’t accept their faction lost many years ago. Let’s see if this one stays in the race. I suspect not.

No - his opponent is a Downer’s Grove Commissioner. The real kicker is that Rep. Sandack backed his newly-minted opponent for Commissioner just two short years ago.

I can’t believe that Mr. Uihlein would throw money at Dan Proft’s chosen opponent when he knows that Governor Rauner is a Sandack backer (or should we say Sandbacker?!).

Those local “out of power types” obliterated all of Sandack’s endorsed candidates in the April 2015 consolidated elections.

The guy Sandack endorsed for Mayor of Downers Grove lost by a margin of 5737 votes to 3053 votes.

Today the City of Decatur lost its greatest cheerleader. The passing of Mayor Mike McElroy today is a great loss. He and council were doing the projects that were turning the city around.
You may not agree politically with his views at times. You know he loved Decatur. We will miss you “Tuna”.

@Team Sleep Uihlein does what he is told. He has no mind of his own. That’s why his former office supply salesman at Uline, John Tillman, gets a blank check. Rauner’s only problem with Uihlein is that he can be so easily manipulated by the Tillman crowd.

From reading Rich’s columns for many, many years plus CapFax for quite a few years, my guess would be liberal on social programs, conservative on fiscal issues, and libertarian on most laws / legal issues … and yes, I realize those positions will also be in conflict with each other at times.

I support Rand Paul. I voted for and supported his dad, too.

Willy - the Illinois Observer had a good write-up linked via its Facebook page. Check it out if you have a few minutes. It’s a good read and, from a party building perspective, it’s infuriating. I know that Rep. Sandack doesn’t get a lot of love around here, but he’s proven himself to be an effective campaigner and is an active and responsive elected official. This is just going to be a drain on Leader Durkin’s resources - unless, of course, Governor Rauner steps in (which I’m guessing he will).

Rauner will back Sandack, as he should, and any and all runs at Sandack will be, to be polite, uphill. Sandack shouldn’t get primaried, but if he is, Sandack probably won’t face the same dynamic this time, unlike last time.

Sandack will be safe, as he should be.
