Blagojevich motion denied

Posted in:

* No surprise

A full appellate court in Chicago will not rehear the appeal of former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s corruption convictions.

The 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals posted a notice Wednesday indicating there would be no rehearing for the imprisoned Democrat.

Blagojevich had hoped the full court might overturn more of his 18 convictions than the five counts a three-judge panel tossed in July.

Blagojevich’s only remaining option for more counts to be overturned is an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Oh, I’m sure he’ll attempt to appeal it all the way to the top. He’s innocent, you know.

Sheesh.

  6. The longer this goes on, the more Rod can grasp at hope. Once the final decision and appeals are over, that might be the most depressing part, losing hope.

  7. I would think he’d focus on what he’s going to say to Judge Zagel at his re-sentencing instead. That’s his only hope of having his sentence reduced.

    He will file motions until the day he gates…and they will all be denied on their face.

    Guys like Rod never believe they don’t have another ploy…but when they finally realize they are going nowhere… they usually start mumbling to themselves as they stomp around the walking track…in circles.

    Based on the language used in remanding the case to Zagel for resentencing, Blago should count himself lucky if he just gets what he is already sentenced to.

  15. Blago is or was an attorney. I wonder if he’s helping in his defense. Or if his attorneys are telling him, “we have it covered.”

    Dumb question.

  16. Laugh at Blago all you want…this case makes it very easy to prosecute a politician who accepts campaign contributions. And the Capital Fax readers who contributed to Rod’s campaigns wanted nothing in return?

    I suggest that you re-read the indictment and subsequent verdict.

    I don’t laugh at Blago. I had to work for him so the mention of his name makes my stomach hurt.

    Don’t know what program you specialized in but hope its out of business.
