Here is an excellent article from the Twitters and this thread. It’s about Illinois’ need to raise taxes. We can raise the income tax rate and still be ballpark with other states, and not really be harmed.

For example, in the past when I was unhappy with my earnings, it wasn’t because of taxes. It was because of low pay. Taxes didn’t “do me in,” so we can follow some of the recommendations in the article.
I would like to see the wealthy bear more of the burden with progressive taxation, and would like to see a financial transaction tax, but it ain’t happening. It’s agreed by key organizations that we need more revenue, so we should do what is feasible.
