On your blog, there has been a lot of discussion about a lack of good news. Today, the City of Chicago legalized food carts– a huge win for Hispanic food vendors who have been operating illegally. Additionally, this creates significant growth opportunities, similar to what we’ve seen from food trucks in Chicago.
Here is a copy of the legislation.

In other news, the National Rifle Association had a momentary bout of confusion and mistakenly thought they were the National Restaurant Association. The NRA assumed this was an assault on their rights. This lead to a call to arms from its D.C. leadership, but all was calm when they arrived for tacos, ribs and pu pu platters and had a grand old time.

If only I lived in Chicago. Guess I’ll have to continue to enjoy the food carts around the courthouse in Peoria instead.

When I worked downtown, I gave lots of $ to the Italian food cart (forget their name). It was “incredibile”.

Love the scavengers. Pop anything remotely of value in the alley, no matter how large, and it’s gone in an hour.

Need to be sure that the scavengers are licensed and insured. It also might deter some of the scavengers who choose to load items that were not really left out for disposal.
I had an overloaded pickup truck driven by a scavenger blow out its tires on Irving Park Road. Not a pretty sight and a near collision for several motorists.
Other truckers have to be licensed.

Legalize? Great. But then, if regulations & red tape similar to food trucks, hmmm, maybe not so great? It is IL and It is Chi. Guess we’ll see.
