* He’ll be a good choice…
BREAKING: Rep. Frank Mautino to be recommended for next Illinois auditor general. Panel voted 11-1. More info soon.
— Illinois Times (@ILTimes) October 6, 2015
…Adding… Daily Herald…
[State Sen. Jim Oberweis], a Sugar Grove Republican, said he was the one vote against the recommendation. He preferred Hoffman Estates native and California resident Mary Modelski for the job because she had more auditing experience and fewer political connections than Mautino.
“She had a perfect background for the job,” Oberweis said.

Congrats to Rep. Frank Mautino. Lets hope Mautino will be able to fill Holland’s big shoes.

Great news, worthy candidates all, but Rep. Mautino is just the right fit of them all… and is a great choice.

Once again Jim Oberweis just can’t help but make himself look ridiculous.
I forget about him, then he talks and reminds me why I forget about him when I think of those understanding governing.

I hope that the appointed State Rep to replace Mr. Mautino will be as good.

Why do I think there’s a certain keyboard at the Tribune’s editorial offices getting a workout right now?

IT is reporting that a lot of the California auditors experience is in IT accounting and not program evaluation.

Wow, something from a bipartisan committee that makes sense!!! Frank will be great. Typical Obie though, he has to be oppositional and predictable.
Comment by Yo Tuesday, Oct 6, 15 @ 2:33 pm
Now I’m sure that Mary Modelski was the wrong person for the job is Obie was pushing for her.

Frank has the character and judgement to be a fair, thoughtful and straight-shooting Auditor General. His history suggests he will not be partisan, will not be fearful, and will not be a shallow publicity seeker. His political and governmental experience will enable him to distinguish real issues from non-issues. It is a testament to the trust he enjoys among his peers that the recommendation, in these otherwise partisan times, was bi-partisan and bi-chamber. Congratulations Frank.

Good for Frank. Hope this flies through from here. He could turn out to be the best one ever. 11-1 is just fine.

When I attended National Assn of State Auditor, Comptrollers & Treasurer’s Conferences, many other state auditors were professional CPAs or Certified Internal Auditors. Would rather have had a professional auditor but at least Mautino has experience with the LAC.

First time ever I agree with Oberweiss

The only way Obie could draw a reporter and get a quote in the paper was to be the sole negative vote.
So, he had his reasons, they just weren’t the ones he said.

Mautino has experience doing systems audits. He really is tailor-made for the job.

Only someone that would use the tag line anonymous would ever agree with Obie, no surprise there. Might be himself.
