* The image is now gone, but during Gov. Rauner’s press conference, the House Republicans tweeted an image of an internal planning document. Aviva Bowen and I both saved copies of it. Click the pic for a larger version…
This looks like a government mail and phone program for a top targeted state legislator, Rep. Terri Bryant (her first name is misspelled on the document). Standard stuff in Illinois, even if it looks more than a bit campaigny.
* Here’s a closeup of the category called “Leadership Mail Target Letters FY 17″…
I asked for a response…
It was a draft of an internal staff document tweeted in error.

Maybe in the “cost to leadership” there should be a line item for outsourcing the twittering to someone who is not going to accidentally tweet internal campaign documents. Just a thought.

Was it tweeted by a government employee on government time?

Ugh!
Again, the Twitter Rules.
If you are so heck-bent on tweeting and you are an elected official or Staff, here are the “rules”
If you can NOT follow these rules - Do Not Tweet Ever.
1) Never tweet in real time anything that can’t be easily tweeted by anyone else. Let them do it.
2) “Don’t Press ‘Tweet’… ” Coach Herm Edwards had it right. You ding need to tweet everything, on anything, all the time.
3) Never take pictures of Documents. Ever. Do y’all realize all the information that can be found? Dates, “CCs”, Who coulda drafted it. Documents are never to be tweeted. Ever.
4) Pictures are for “after” - like a “Later-Tweet” or “LaterGram”. Not one person cares at that real time moment how cute the dog is, how big the sandwich is, or how inportant you think you are.
5) Get off Twitter.
Pathetic.

@HBM - appears so. From an official account, possibly govt equipment.

I’d think someone is going to get fired for this. This should prompt the first investigation from our new Auditor General.

Was the idea to tweet this from a redbox account so that a superpac would know the plan without “coordinating”?

It’s a document that keeps track of mailing of newsletters, etc. out of a bulk mailing account. Pretty mundane.

To the commenters — it appears to be a standard state mail plan for a target. Like it or not, government time and resources are A-ok.

That was more than likely the persons last tweet

I feel sorry for the poor staffer who probably just hit the wrong button on their phone. It happens. It was an honest mistake. I would hope that our political institutions would protect an underpaid and overworked staffer, but I suppose in the current climate nobody is safe from political retribution.
And this is what is wrong with political wars. The war mongers always leave safe and protected and go back to their vacation homes or retire to Palm Springs, it is the foot soldiers that really lose out.

“Tis nothing, my sweets!”
“A doodle - a dawdle - a scratch pad of random numbers!”
“A moment of day dreaming, that is all you are seeing here!”
“Now you don’t mind your pretty selves over this mere scrap of paper. You weren’t even supposed to see it! Trying to understand it will just worry your little heads.”
“Guards - seize the fool who did this - uh, little fantasy…”

HBO - “Dad’s Home State” - Season 2, Episode 14
Bruce gives press conference on triangulation, forgets Rahm is one of the other sides. Diana starts touring and excited to be out of the office. Lance subtweets House Republicans with an “Angry Cat” picture, “ck” prepares the Mad Libs for the State of the State Address. Comedy, 63 minutes.

I think it’s a little extreme to say this should prompt an investigation. Good Lord, it was an accident that could happen to anyone. I’m sure we have all misspelled something on social media or accidentally shared/posted the wrong thing. People make mistakes. And I highly doubt this was done with government equiptment. It’s 2016, most people have numerous accounts linked to their personal phones.

When did I say anything about a personal device, or personal e-mail for that matter? Just quoting the guv. He’s that one who is so in favor of transparency in government dealings after all.
And, BTW, this is the last of it from me one this subject. Rich was right earlier today. Namaste.
