Let’s ease our way back into blogging with a softball question:

  1. I am thankful that most of my family was together for the holiday and for the pure joy of my grandchildren and their sense of wonder about the little things of life. And I look forward to having all my children together for the New Year’s weekend.

  2. For my health, ability to work & most of all my family all together through another year. Hoping everyone enjoyed Thanksgiving & the great “un-seasonable” weather.

  3. Family and still having my parents with me for the holiday. It’s the only time of year that my family gets together and we get along for 3 days. Seeing my dad happy like that does more for me than anything else in the world.

Well, that and I’m thankful that again my stepson walked away from another horrible car accident.

In the end, family is what I’m most thankful for.

  4. It was great having the two older kids home from school and for that I am thankful.

  5. Family, food, and no political commercials.

  6. My children and grandchildren all seem to be happy and healthy. Nobody is going through a divorce. Nobody just lost their job. They all get along with each other. They all seem to still love their old man and grandpa. What more could I really want? Everything else seems so superficial and trivial when I really think about it. I am a lucky man.

  7. Global warming: produced absolutely beautiful weather for end of November in IL.

    Comment by North of I-80 Monday, Nov 27, 06 @ 8:18 am

  8. Stuffed with food and beverage, I took advantage of the opportunity to watch Blazing Saddles with my nieces and nephews (teens and young adults). I told them it was a civil rights movie.

  26. Finding your health and sanity still intact even after the crazy election, complete with whacko campaign commercials.

Also, running into people you haven’t seen in a while asking first and foremost how you ARE before asking what you’re up to. Nice to see that people still care even if politicians don’t. lol

Comment by Angie Monday, Nov 27, 06 @ 1:24 pm

  27. I am thankful that there are at least 46% of voters in Cook County who could say I told you so re: Stroger. In four years, I can only hope for more.

  28. I am thankful that I was able to drive 3,800 miles and not see a single Blogo or JBT sign. Of course they aren’t in Montana…probably why I went!! So, so, so grateful the campaigns are over. What a clown ride that was. Thankful that my friends are safe in Iraq, behind 50 caliber messengers. And thankful that the FBI is working every day to draw the noose even tighter around the necks of those who betrayed our trust. And of course, I’m thankful to Rich for this great forum for exchange of views.

Comment by Disgusted Monday, Nov 27, 06 @ 10:19 pm

  35. Talking to people you haven’t seen in a while and having them first ask HOW you are before asking WHAT you’re up to. That’s always nice (health and state of mind before everything else).

Thankful for health and sanity while living in an otherwise nutty state. Thankful my sense of humor is still intact while living in an otherwise nutty world (let alone this state). Thankful that at least SOMEONE I actually voted for got elected (go Lisa!!!). And very thankful that I made a wise decision to completely transfer schools (giving up a fully renewable scholarship and generous grant), since this time last year, as I’m actually surrounded by intelligent company in classes and actually learning something for a change. Couldn’t be more pleased, even if the drive is longer and requires seeing Rod’s name all over the tollway (argh!!!).

And finally, thankful that Pete Fitzgerald went outside of Illinois to bring in Patrick J. Fitzgerald (no relation to Pete) to try to clean up this corrupt mess of a state. The DA is into The Ramones! I would never have thought it had I not seen his blog online, but I think we’re all very thankful for Fitz. Keep those indictments coming.

Comment by Angie Tuesday, Nov 28, 06 @ 12:36 am

  36. My mistake. Fitz is US Attorney. Didn’t want to leave my error in my last post uncorrected.

Comment by Angie (addendum) Tuesday, Nov 28, 06 @ 12:46 am

  37. I’m thankful for my family and friends, those at STAND helping to Shut This Airport Nightmare Down. I’m thankful like most of the rest of you for Patrick Fitzgerald and I hope he keeps on going through all those who have used the elected power to promote themselves and their friends on our behalf. I hope a wake-up call is heard throughout Illinois that those elected into office need to remember they are public servants and act in the best interest of the public and not themselved. Those like Jackson Jr. need to realize they need to provide for economic development within their own legislative district and not outside - they’d be surprised how much they could actually do for the citizens if they tried. And thankful to Rich and those blogging here to exchange ideas while remaining independent thinkers.
