* This is one of the best introductory campaign TV ads I’ve seen in a long while…
I usually smirk or have a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach when I watch political ads. Not so with this one. Good stuff.
…Adding… FYI, Raja told me that Eric Adelstein did the ad.

I said the same thing when I saw it this morning. Good stuff for sure.

Shades of the brilliant, near manic, Paul Wellstone ads.
A+

Wow, one of the best intros in a long time.

I laughed out loud. Thank goodness for candidates who don’t put out the same old same old.

Saw this one this morning and I have to agree - great ad. He comes off as very genuine. Not the same ol’ cookie cutter ad you see from so many of the other candidates.
Comment by Curious Georgina Wednesday, Feb 24, 16 @ 10:42 am
Saw it this morning, got my complete attention, made me smile, left an impression, “knew” Raja after the Ad was done.
Yikes, that’s restaurant-quality. Outstanding. A+
Well done, that’s a Crew that knows how to do things.

Love it - and if you know Raja, you know it rings true. Great job.

Love it! I smiled, then I laughed. A really delightful ad.
Substantively, it conveyed his basic philosophy AND his stand on specific issues in 30 seconds. Job well done.

A+ for sure. I saw the ad this morning and absolutely loved it. The best political ad I’ve seen in years. Raja comes across as approachable and in touch with his district. He talks about issues without beating anyone over the head. The seniors in the ad are perfect, and I really liked how they warmed up to him. Wish I could vote for the guy!

Archiesmom has already said exactly what I would!

The best part is, the commercial presents Raja as he actually is. He is that genuine. A+

Great ad.

You suppose Bill Hillsman is involved with his campaign in any way, re the Wellstone style?
Comment by Angry Chicagoan Wednesday, Feb 24, 16 @ 10:55 am
Good ad, yo know his name when it is done. Nicely folksy.
@MrJM- Good on your for the Wellstone link. As someone who considers himself center right politically, I was a huge Wellstone fan. I loved his honesty. His story encouraged me to get involved politically when I was in my 20’s.

Great ad. Solid A+
Maybe third time is the charm.

Nice ad. Brought a smile to my face.
Reminds me of the initial Blago ads, but with a sane candidate.

Good work, Eric. Another example of why A-L is the best shop it town.

Excellent, little too heavy handed with the seniors (but get why they are there): A-

I wish all political TV ads were in the same class as this one.
Comment by Mama Wednesday, Feb 24, 16 @ 11:21 am
Wow, Raja just comes off as a very likeable guy and the ad speaks of his accomplishments and issues that are important to him. What a contrast to the sleazy Proft/ Rauner attack ads. I guess when you have little good to say about yourself it’s better to slander your opponent. I give this ad a solid A.
Comment by The Dude Abides Wednesday, Feb 24, 16 @ 11:30 am
I can’t remember the last time a political ad made my cynical self think positively about a candidate I had been dismissing. Very impressive.
Comment by Montrose Wednesday, Feb 24, 16 @ 11:31 am
Masterful intro. Leaves image of upbeat, friendly guy. Simple images win.
“Just call me Raja” is a simple and memorable line. Overcomes the name recognition hurdle for him.
Gonna be money and TV ads vs. candidate at your door, and other boots on the ground.

===Overcomes the name recognition hurdle for him.===
Except times have changed. Used to be, candidates with funny names weren’t favored. Now, candidates with funny names are often recruited to run because their names are memorable. What I mean is, voters who don’t pay much attention who see something positive about a candidate with an unusual name will look for an unusual name on the ballot, even if they don’t remember the actual name.

Good for Eric, too. Good duo.

solid ad- nice and simple and lighthearted approach to the complicated last name

As solid as they get. Hard to dislike this guy and really easy to like him. Well done. Best pass in a long time.

Great ad by Raja.
Noland’s ad is looking real bad now: https://www.facebook.com/nolandforcongress/?fref=ts

===Noland’s ad is looking real bad now===
That ad was bad before Raja’s ad was even made.
Woof, it’s horrible.
Comment by Rich Miller Wednesday, Feb 24, 16 @ 1:10 pm
That might be his Peoria upbringing that helps him.

Not a bad day so far for Raja. Chicago Tribune just endorsed him too.

Didn’t think Noland had money for an ad. I caught the tail end of a new one from Stratton going after Dunkin this morning but haven’t been able to find it on line.

Apparently a great commercial and a big smile is all it takes to convince voters. Now that’s scary!

“Apparently a great commercial and a big smile is all it takes to convince voters.”
A great commercial & a big smile will beat a stinker of a commercial every single time.

=Apparently a great commercial and a big smile is all it takes to convince voters. Now that’s scary!=
Daily Herald: “Krishnamoorthi brings to this race experience that is broad and deep, both in public service and in the business world.”
Chicago SunTimes: “Our endorsement goes to Krishnamoorthi. We’re impressed by Krishnamoorthi’s highly specific legislative agenda”
Chicago Tribune: “Krishnamoorthi’s amalgam of business and government experience makes him the best candidate, hands down. A Harvard Law School grad who lives in Schaumburg, he’s been a deputy state treasurer and an assistant attorney general. He’s president of two high-tech firms focused on military security and renewable energy. Those overlapping experiences give him a valuable perspective on how government policy affects businesses and workers.”
Also - you obviously didn’t listen to the actual commercial: the whole thing was focused on Raja’s background and policy solutions.
Pay attention next time.

I suddenly had a flashback to a commercial from 20 years ago with voters attempting to pronounce another name…
Bla-GO-Gevich?
Blag-O-J…
He cut in and said… “just call me Rod.” Hopefully Raja is not headed down the same path.

anyone will try anything to connect someone to Blago, seems desperate. Noland supporter? I think so - I know it can be tough if all three major newspapers endorse Raja.
