Advocates have been emailing the Governor and texting the Speaker.
Guess we better figure out a new mode to communicate the destruction of the budget impasse. That ought to do it.

According to an article in the Illinois Times a couple of weeks ago, the Governor doesn’t have a State issued phone number either (at least that was the response to a FOIA request for his email address and telephone number). No State email and no State telephone usage. I wonder how he communicates with people. Smoke signals, telepathy….? /s

But you could text him IF you had his phone number.
Hmmm … now exactly HOW is a private communications device like a smart phone with photo, text, web, and video conferencing capability different from a private email server? Aren’t they both attempts to avoid FOIA requests?

Any high profile politician who uses email should have his or her head examined. Reporters like McKinney might hate it — but it’s the right thing for Rauner and Madigan to do.

Sure makes you wonder what that public servant is doing with all that “dark space” he has created for himself.
In the past, I have had extreme difficulty contacting certain agency decision makers when there are significant problems needing oversight by a manager who has authority over other certain state employees. Supervisors and managers with no phone numbers, no emails, no accountability.
This organizational culture, AS NOW CONDONED AND ENCOURAGED BY THE FIGUREHEAD OF THE ILLINOIS GOP, will surely be another cause of more COURT ORDERS.
Do your job Rauner, or get out.

I mean, look around. Everywhere I go I see improved quality of life and increased productivity.
Just ask Lutheran Social Services or Catholic Charities or Chicago State.

I sure hope he doesn’t conduct any State business on personal devices or accounts. All state employees are warned that they’re devices and accounts are subject to FOIA and the records can be obtained without consent if they use them AT ALL, even once for state business.

But as others have said, there is no avoiding open records. Several recent cases have ruled that private phones or devices are not exempt if public work is conducted on them.

That’s a relief. I’d been worried about the governor’s quality of life.
Now, maybe I can concern myself with the homeless kids getting tossed in the street since the governor refuses to release existing funds dedicated to their safety and well-being.
That willful act is the governor’s definition of “increased productivity,” I guess.
