50th Senate is almost just as bonkers, Liberty Principles with almost $1.4M for Benton & labor is all-in for McCann pic.twitter.com/8eWIdRVvHT

Some have called the 102nd House a proxy war between Govs Rauner (Halbrook) & Edgar (Acklin). Slight edge Halbrook. pic.twitter.com/dMcOSKSXv0

And look at the 72nd & 74th House, in each Liberty Principles has spent more than all the candidates combined. pic.twitter.com/40VKFwGusS

Blago tried to sell the wrong seat …

Considering it won’t likely be the 71st seat, that’s a lot of dough to spend on pride or appearances. It’s funny that Rauner thinks if Dunkin wins the Dems will desert Madigan, and the Dems think if McCann wins the Republicans will desert him. The situations are similar except one of those people sided with the governor over his constituents and the other did the latter. Big difference IMO.

Halbrook’s radio commercial has Rauner discussing how he needs him in the House and how he’s not with any special interests. (Except for Rauner and Liberty Principles which funds the ad)

The Halbrook/Acklin race is really academic. Based on Acklin’s performance in the schools, it is very likely he will quickly become a Raunerbot if elected. The current attack ad on Acklin is accurate. That being said, how does one vote for the Raunerbot? Or the morally bankrupt candidate soon to be a Raunerbot? I live in the adjoining district and I’m glad this choice is not mine to make.

I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again: Stratton needs to start spending, and spending wisely. Name recognition and a GOTV strategy.

Liberty Principles has spent a couple million dollars on the most conservative candidate in quite a few contested Republican primaries. In many of them they are the dominant financial factor so far so it’s possible their favored candidates will do quite well this month. The result is a more conservative Republican caucus in the two chambers.
At some point some day the Governor will finally agree to negotiate a budget and some combination of Democrats and Republicans will have to vote for it. Finding the votes to pass a budget, any budget, whenever that time finally comes may prove very, very difficult or borderline impossible.
