* Translation: 549,040 is the number of pageviews at this website on primary election day last month, according to my server stats (which specifically exclude bots, worms, etc.). That’s pretty amazing considering that all of our content that evening was automatically updated via ScribbleLive and therefore required no screen refreshes. And, as far as I could tell, we had just one minor overload glitch which didn’t last more than a few seconds. The server fixes have definitely worked.
To put that number into perspective, we had 143,269 pageviews here the day Rod Blagojevich was arrested. We had 230,478 pageviews on 2014’s primary day and 322,329 pageviews on general election day that same year.
Thanks!

I remember the page exploding when Schock resigned…I don’t remember if you listed the count in the days following.

It was the place to be, and the Crew you had at the World Headquarters “fed us” all we could handle.
The number says it all. Congratulations.

Terrific and congratulations on the many page views. This was a great place to follow the primary election with live tweets and up to the minute news and analysis, plus great comments.

That’s a testament right there. Where do people go to get the real scoop? I’ll give you 549,040 guesses. One great result of social media and the internet in general is that many peoples BS detector has gotten a lot better. Honed if you will. People don’t always agree with Rich but they know it’s a better stab at truth/informed opinion than anything else out there. I think one of the greatest changes/challenges of the early 21rst century is the bifurcation between the messy quest for the temporary better, authenticity, and the pure sterility of self-delusional ideation. I would put Rich Miller and Bruce Rauner on opposite ends of the scale. Authenticity vs. Perfidy. I hope you feel like a Titan Rich.

There’s an appetite for specific, detailed, knowledgeable info. Huge, apparently.
Also for as well as traditional media covers everything up to election day they don’t do election night very well, despite having some enormous built in advantages like streaming live data on returns. Every cycle I think this is the one where they finally figure out how to do election night better and every cycle they let us down. I’m not one of those anti-traditional media types I just think they let us down on election night given what’s possible and what they actually do.

The Tribune and New York Times both had pretty up-to-the-minute election results. I was going back and forth between here and those two sites

Was there any other place to be?

The cream always rises to the top - and I know because I grew up on a dairy farm.
And I also know that this is the only site to refer to for anyone wanting clear insights and fresh perspectives in the State of Illinois.
Well done and well deserved!

Congrats to you Rich. As others have stated this is the place to be to get the real scoop on the political landscape of Illinois. Now just think of the number of hit’s you will receive when you post the Cub’s win the World Series in October. LOL, as a Cub fan for 50+ years I know all to well how my statement will come back and bite me in the fall.

Capital Fax rocks!
Rich is a terrific writer and makes political information interesting. The commenters are the best since there is so little negativity while they add to the info. But, then back to Rich for keeping us in line. It’s a great combination.

Rich, you should start charging per view. You could use the money to help out your favorite non-profit social programs.
