I get it, there are a lot of Pat Quinn’s out there, and many of them are lawyers too.
Rather than list his resume, he should instead have his card just say: “Yes, that Pat Quinn.”
Comment by 47th Ward Wednesday, Apr 27, 16 @ 2:30 pm
tomorrow’s qotd should be “guess the gmail address”
Comment by conn smythe Wednesday, Apr 27, 16 @ 2:31 pm
I am kind of surprised he had new ones printed. I envisioned him just editing his old Governor business cards with a pen.
Comment by TominChicago Wednesday, Apr 27, 16 @ 2:31 pm
Maybe it’s to assure you that he is in fact, THE Pat Quinn, not some other Pat Quinn. (A search for “Pat Quinn” on the ARDC lawyer lookup returns five different people, all in the Chicago area.)
Comment by Dan V. Wednesday, Apr 27, 16 @ 2:31 pm
Next thing yoh know Quinn will have a tomb built with all his accomplishments chiseled in the walls…
To the Post,
When you need to reinforce an obvious truth, who are you trying to convince it happened at all?
You put a think on that… Mr. Quinn.

Meh, you can’t swing a cat in my neighborhood (Gov. Quinn’s general neighborhood) without hitting a Pat Quinn that’s a lawyer.
Seriously, it’s a necessity, for clarity’s sake.
Comment by wordslinger Wednesday, Apr 27, 16 @ 2:39 pm
I think Quinn should’ve added
“Lead Singer, Driver of the Winnebago”
But, that’s just me…
Comment by Oswego Willy Wednesday, Apr 27, 16 @ 2:39 pm
He reeeeallllyy likes his business cards. During his term as governor, he had these really nice business cards embossed with the gold leaf foil. I remember wondering why a sitting governor would need business cards. Did he worry that people forget that he was governor? Or was he afraid someone would go “that nice white-haired fellow who was here last week, Paul? Or Pete? What did he say his job was again?”

For the past 18 months, Pat Quinn has hunkered down over a manual typewriter with a stack of old business cards and a gallon of white out.
His administration always was about getting results.
Comment by Michelle Flaherty Wednesday, Apr 27, 16 @ 2:42 pm
That’s not as bothersome as a business card that reads: “Pat Quinn, Candidate for Governor - 2018″
Comment by FTA Wednesday, Apr 27, 16 @ 2:42 pm
In case he does run into someone who doesn’t know who is it, won’t it be really awkward when asked why/how he was governor for 6 years?

Not a bad business card. At least he’s not going around handing out campaign lit with a website and slogan yet…doesn’t his alma mater need a teacher or something?
Comment by Curious Wednesday, Apr 27, 16 @ 2:48 pm

lake county democrat is on the money with the gmail, also depending on what address he has, it is real easy to get someones e-mails besides your own and vice-versa due to fat fingers.
I get gmail mail for at least 4 other people around the world on a semi-regular basis.
Comment by OneMan Wednesday, Apr 27, 16 @ 2:49 pm

If there was ever any doubt that this blog will criticize or mock absolutely anything Pat Quinn does, this post removes it. The existence of the post, plus 40 or so comments mocking the fact that he has a business card, on a day when the former US House Speaker was sentenced to 15 months in prison. Unbelievable.
Comment by Illini Alum Wednesday, Apr 27, 16 @ 3:00 pm

So much of what Gov. Quinn did was vaguely embarrassing. He never carried himself like a governor should. He always sort of slumped when he walked and just never gave off a feeling of confidence.
This is yet another example.
He’s the former governor of a large state.
He should have the confidence to put his name and a law firm name on it, and he should also spend a few dollars to get a website and a real e-mail.
Clients want lawyers who seem like know what they are doing. They want to be given advice by somebody confidence.
This is an absolutely terrible business card. I can’t imagine people would look at this and want to send him any business.
Comment by Gooner Wednesday, Apr 27, 16 @ 3:06 pm
The governor part sets him apart from the other Pat Quinns. How about “Still not indicted” to set him apart from the other former governors?

So, if you check the non-partisan scoreboard at the comptroller’s office, how does the Quinn administration compare to Rauner’s?
Woof. What a mess. Billions of mess.
This state could use a real Republican Party, not some old-man dilettante, surrounded by payroll-sycophants and their brain-dead-loser spin-meisters frat-boy party animals.
Comment by wordslinger Wednesday, Apr 27, 16 @ 5:53 pm
It reminds me of a certain relative of the Speaker who actually introduces himself as, “Hello, I’m (insert name), I’m Speaker Madigan’s (insert relation).”
I’ve seen him do it more than once and every time the other person is confused and has this expression like, “Did he really just say that? That is how he wants me to think of him?”
Comment by Not It Wednesday, Apr 27, 16 @ 5:58 pm
It’s missing the chess knight…..
Pat Quinn, Pat Quinn
Where do you roam?
Pat Quinn, Pat Quinn,
Not too, far from home.
Had Guv, Will Travel, reads the card of a man. A knight without armor in a savage land. His fast gun for hire heeds the calling wind. A soldier of fortune is the man called…. Pat… Quinnnn.
He travels on to wherever he must. A chess knight of silver is his badge of trust. There are campaign legends that the party shamans spin.
Of the man with the petitions, of the man called:
Paaaat Quinnnnn.

Yet for all the detractors on this post - Gov. Quinn did attend the funeral of every fallen hero, without any fanfare and without any preferential treatment being expected.
He came to my small town of 450 and stood in line like everyone else to honor a fallen Marine.
Enough said.

Pat Quinn was the best governor Illinois has had in this century. He had flaws, but he got better at the job over time.
And Illini has it right on the military funerals. That was from the heart.
