* Note to blog readers: Reader comments will be turned off early Friday evening as usual, but they’ll be opened again on Sunday because it’s a session day.
* Let’s see, we’ve got the lottery privatization, the student loan portfolio sale, tollway, and all sorts of other privatizing plans still under consideration. The Bond Buyer [hefty subscription] adds this little tidbit.
…several sources said former deputy governor Bradley Tusk, who recently resigned from his position to return to New York City, has joined Lehman Brothers to work on the firm’s asset-privatization team.
* The Bond Buyer also reported that the state has “hired Goldman, Sachs & Co. and UBS Securities LLC to serve as financial advisers on a potential privatization of the state Lottery to help finance a $10 billion education program that includes $1.5 billion of new borrowing for school buildings projects, officials said yesterday.”
* Chicagoist interviews Cook County Commisioner Forrest Claypool
C: Would you run for County Board President again, and if so, under what circumstances?
FC: [laughs] Well, I’m just going to represent my constituents on the county board for the next three years and fight for the things that I ran on initially, and we’ll see what happens. If there is a vehicle where I feel like I can make a difference and achieve some of these goals, then yeah, I’ll do it. But it’s way too early to tell.

* Krol: What has changed since Obama said ‘no’ to ’08?
The day after U.S. Sen. Barack Obama won his election in 2004, he was asked the obvious question: will you run for president?
Here’s what he said:
“Look, I can unequivocally say I will not be running for national office in four years.â€
* Huntley: Biotalk or biotech? In which does Illinois want to be leader?
* Political Insider: “Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) is actively interviewing potential staffers for a 2008 presidential campaign, though he has told at least one that he still hasn’t made a final decision about running yet.”

“Venthole,” I have no idea how that vile comment of yours made it through my comment screens, but consider yourself banned.

And that means your alter ego is also banned, by the way. I checked your IP address. Done.

So Mayor Daley has his campaign website up. It’s too bad someone hasn’t linked it to the comic strips that are on-line, because Daley’s record has been one sick joke.

What happens when there is nothing to sell or privatize?

Is there any statement or action that Obama has made or done that some columnist has not recorded, studied, analyzed, and checked for consistency just to write a column? I know people in public life get all kinds of attention, but Barack is being put into hyperdrive. Better check the color of his socks.

Since this is an open-ish thread, Rich I hate that you changed your RSS feed from full to preview. I understand that you want people to click through to see your ads, but couldn’t you just include your ads in the feed? Talk to Klau and Jake for help on that.
Just from a personal point, I find that of the feeds that don’t offer the full feed I often read them less.
P.S. If it wasn’t intentional and you have no idea what I’m talking about, your RSS feed in my aggregator always showed the full blog post, now (starting earlier this week I think) it only feeds the first few sentences and I have to click through to your site to see the full post.

I don’t think I could put five or six ads in each feed. I know how you feel about the clipped feeds, but I do need to make sure people see the ads. For now, I think, it will stay.

I went to the Garage Sale, not a Lot, I did get 11 Blue Books though for $20, so not bad, some from the 80’s
I was also able to know who put out the BUCK FLAGOVICH, Bumper stickers as there were stacks of them there, other than that just knick knacks and the like

So, Ethics Test takers, if Bradley Tusk leaves State Government and goes to work for a bond house, is the firm:
a) ineligible to bid on State work for one year.
b) can bid on State work because Tusk is not an owner
c) is wired tighter than a new screendoor for the Lottery deal
d) none of the above

Bill Bradley had a verbal SAT score of 485 and the media made him out to be a genius.
There can be no trust in admission to or graduation from any university.
Where are the writings of Hillary, Obama, et. al. when they were in school.
How come they are hiding them?
That will reveal their true scholarship because they didn’t have ghost writers then.
Just because someone can give a good performance in a particular setting doesn’t prove intelligence.
Every night on TV you can see hundreds of great and moving performances.

True Observer -
Obama was editor of the Harvard Law Review, and there is no question that he wrote his books. He was also a university professor.

Kroll strikes again. I don’t fault him for being a good investigative reporter, but I wonder if he’ll balance things out by digging up some dirt on conservatives too–rather than just going after Whitney and Obama.
