* Press release…
Leaders from SEIU Healthcare Illinois’ child care and home healthcare bargaining committees will hold an emergency press conference at 12 p.m. Wednesday at their headquarters to provide updates on contract talks for some 52,000 Illinois caregivers who have worked without a full collective bargaining agreement since June 30, 2015, and will provide shocking new figures to describe the extent of damage caused to programs by Gov. Bruce Rauner.
They will be joined by Sen. Daniel Biss (D-Skokie) and Rep. Sonya Harper (D-Chicago), sponsors of the “Invest in Illinois” legislative package that passed overwhelmingly in the General Assembly in the recent session and which was intended to help ameliorate the Rauner attacks on care.
At the press conference it will be revealed that, according to the state’s own figures, the Child Care Assistance Program has 55,000 FEWER children participating than a year ago, countering Rauner claims that his attacks would not permanently damage the program. (see attachment).
WHAT: Emergency Press Conference to Discuss Collapse of Caregiving in Illinois, Update on Contract Talks for 52,000 Home and Child Caregivers.
WHEN: 12 p.m., NOON, Wednesday, June 15.
WHERE: SEIU Healthcare Illinois Headquarters, 2229 S. Halsted Ave, Chicago.
WHO: Sen. Daniel Biss, Rep. Sonya Harper, SEIU Healthcare Illinois leaders.

And assuming the parent(s) understand who caused the damage, at least 55,000 less votes for GOP legislators.

Why isn’t anybody tying this to our unemployment rate? I see a straight line….

honeybear, not to correct someone i agree with, but would you mind puting “reforms” in quotation marks. Would that the media would do that also

Soccermom — Quinn did that in an interview with Mike Fourcher.

Until the systematic coordination between Labor, Democrats, and Social Service Providers, Advocates and Clients decide that messaging is important and while they’ve recognized this … and Social Servies are trying… as Rich had a Post about a while back…
… Until these groups realize they all are NOT Raunerites…
The Rauner Press Shop, feebly responding with the Rauner Word Jumble… they will continue to win the day…
… maybe even Wednesday(?)
Now IS the time. Thousands are being counted, let them count on you.

“Devastating.” ~Linda Saterfield, former Associate Director for the Office of Early Childhood
And then she went on to say: “For every dollar that we invest, we save seven. So I think the economic impact is pretty significant.”

Wow, there is an unbiased report - SEIU leadership. Perhaps if we paid closer attention to Rauner’s plan our much needed social programs could be funded.
Comment by Big Mike Tuesday, Jun 14, 16 @ 5:15 pm
- Norseman -, thanks.
My hope was that events like Wednesday’s would never have had to occur at all.
If this has to be, I hope they all get coordinated.
You keep me in line, - Norseman -. Appreciate it.

They just left the state because of no turnaround agenda

We have been commenting on this logical union of impacted individuals, agencies, programs and providers. The passion and the indignation is understandable. As is the ensuring impact all this is having on the economy of our state.
BVR has everyone that is impacted exactly where he wants them. And is counting on the fact that they can never get organized or be capable of mounting a concerted effort to educate the millions of individuals in Illinois who are oblivious to the devastation he is causing by his obfuscation of the issues and his myopic view of his “mandate”.
Just wish the “press” would do their job and help to inform the voters of what has actually been happening these past 18 months and cut through the “word salad” continually being reported as news.

wondering—you’re my spouse aren’t you? I swear to God dear, lay off me on the grammar! How many times have I said, I can’t be held accountable when I’m in passion mode! lol
Real reply: Yes dear, I’ll try harder.

Ruh Roh, looks like my last one got taken down. Sorry, I really lost it. Thank you as ever Rich for editing me.
Wait, OW what happened Wednesday?
I know it’s dinner time but I didn’t understand your comment about coordination. If you’ve got time later to explain, I’d appreciate it.

Apologies

–Wow, there is an unbiased report - SEIU leadership.–
That’s your conclusion, after reading the attachment provided? Please point out the flaws in their analysis.
–Perhaps if we paid closer attention to Rauner’s plan our much needed social programs could be funded.–
I would love to pay closer attention to the governor’s “plan” and how it would create jobs and generate revenue.
How would I go about that? Do you have the assumptions, data and projections?
Or is it a faith-based fiscal and economic model?

Well if I had actually read through the post I probably could have figured that out! Ha! The lid came off my head at 55,000. I didn’t even notice that. Thanks. I’m better now. I looked for a long time at my vegetables growing in my little garden.

Wasn’t This bargaining unit the one which was the Blago give away subject to the Harris litigation. Some of us might suggest this is actually a favorable development

–Some of us might suggest this is actually a favorable development–
No doubt that you do, Sue.
But it’s a complete rejection of the welfare-to-work path that was the signature GOP domestic policy initiative of the last 25 years.
