* Speaking to AFSCME’s convention in Las Vegas today, presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton took a whack at Gov. Bruce Rauner…
“In Illinois, Bruce Rauner has been holding the budget hostage for months, endangering public colleges and universities, hurting families and demanding outrageous concessions from public sector unions.”
As a reporter on Twitter noted, she pronounced his name “Rawner.”

It’s a “wash” … Rauner must be so pleased!
“Hillary Clinton just can’t stand me!”
If Labor and Democrats here in Illinois are melding right now in field ops, you are burning daylight.
Raunerites. That’s the ball game.
Rauner now has Hillary as a weapon too…
… Even as Bruce Rauner… supports Donald Trump
Vote.
Accordingly.

That’s okay. I’m sure we’re all going to be shocked to discover that the governor’s birth certificate names him Bruce Vincent Raunerg.

I wonder if this event was hosted at Trump Hotel? (Note to Rich: I think this is snark. I have been getting censored a lot these days).

Ugh, I’m so not a fan of HRC. She’s a huge part of why I left the Democratic party. It’s sad that I can’t even be happy at her whack at Rauner. As they say here “Why you all up in my bizness girrrrrrrl?” Ugh, between the Terranova email and HRC I’m in a totally crabby mood. She certainly didn’t mispronounce his name when she spoke to GTCR in 2014 for 270k. Okay, I’m gonna go eat a Snickers or something.
Love of God Rich, OSCAR PIC! STAT!

And he couldn’t ask for a better enemy. I’m sure he’s quite pleased about this criticism.

Just what the Country needs another 4 or 8 years of union favoring policies which do nothing to enhance job growth.

==Just what the Country needs another 4 or 8 years of union favoring policies which do nothing to enhance job growth. ==
Absolutely right! It’s time we switched to anti-union policies that do nothing to enhance job growth.

Hey Sue! It’s after 4! Don’t miss your IPI cocktail hour at the Sangamo club! Tuesday means Cosmopolitans!
Job growth (rolls eyes) like minimum wage non-union social service positions! Coming to a newly devastated town near you!
How about you bring back the good paying social service jobs your love Rauner took.

After reading the statement a few times, I believe it to be factual. Will the BVR superstars make some hay of it, yeah. As to pronouncing his last name, I would go with something Rich would moderate me over.

I’m sure Rauner won’t be commenting on this either…

Actually, that’s all he WILL be talking about.
This is great for Rauner.
Now he needs a strike by AFSCME…

A Venn Diagram showing people who do not like Hillary or Trump would have a great big overlap in the middle.

Im no fan of Hillary, but I’m pragmatic enough to understand the significance of what she spoke to. It was refreshing to hear her call out Rauner and voice her opposition to Walker in Wisconsin and right to work as well. The comments on AFSCME’s Facebook feed reminded me of what I read from union members explaining why they couldn’t vote for Quinn. Hillary also referenced the Friedrichs v. California Teachers Association case, public sector union members will learn the true significance of that if Trump/Pence are elected. Plus, because people tend not to split their tickets, union folks voting against their self interests could be harmful down ballot in the Raunerite races as well. This is going to continue to be an interesting election.

As a once proud USw worker and owner of a union steel manufacturing widget shop, I wish HRC would be as fervant on how she is going to s…can TPP efforts.

Agreed.
Clinton’s remarks reinforce the Rauner resolve and allows Raunerites to have their villain in Clinton.
It’s a checking of the box for Rauner, politically and ideologically. It’s great for him.
Clinton’s numbers are possibly better, so all it did was help with already converted Raunerites… and gives Rauner a badge of honor with Raunerites too.

Trump likes right to work:

Pence defended Indiana’s right to work laws, and worked to eliminate their version of prevailing wage, among other things:

Definitely not a pro-labor ticket.

“In Illinois, Mike Madigan and the Democratic Super Majority has been pretending that the budget has been held hostage for over a year, endangering public colleges and universities, hurting families and demanding outrageous concessions from every day taxpayers, when in fact they can pass a budget with or without the Governor’s approval at any time.”
Fixed it for Hillary…

===“In Illinois, Bruce Rauner and the Raunerite Caucuses he controled have been frustrated but felt taking steps to reform Illinois was more important than the budget Rauner himself held hostage for over a year, endangering public colleges and universities, hurting families and demanding outrageous unattainable agenda items that had not enough support to pass, when in fact, all the while, Rauner pretended day after day that Democrats, and a phony alleged super-majority, could pass a budget with or without the Governor’s approval at any time, but everyone knew that wasn’t true.”===

“Just an fyi. NAFTA and TPP are worse than RTW.”
Anti-trade is Trump’s big issue, yet he outsourced or outsources his clothes. He told this to his supporters at one of his recent speeches. When Trump was on David Letterman, he said that he employed people in Bangladesh, and “they have to work, too.” People believe this guy?
I just read that Pence was for all free trade legislation during his time in Congress.
Again, with due respect, as far as people on the so-called left, Sen. Sanders is not going to risk throwing away hard-won accomplishments that are constantly under attack and are dear and vital to many people because he didn’t win, or because of one or a few issues.
Instead, he’s going to try to get change via a major political party that has a realistic chance of winning the White House and Senate, rather than stomping off in anger and supporting someone who has virtually no chance of winning and thus no chance of effecting change. He already influenced the Democratic Party platform.
