Huh. I thought he’d made his opinion on the ruling pretty clear in the statement he out out last week. Guess he wants to talk more about his opinion.

No additional media availability? The governor doesn’t want to answer questions about how remap reform will turn around the Illinois economy? That’s weird…

Rauner needs to resign!

How much has Rauner donated to this supposedly “independent” map debacle?
Comment by DuPage Monday, Jul 25, 16 @ 11:31 am
DuPage - Rauner has not contributed to the Independent Map Amendment.

===We need it in the Republican Party, in the Democratic Party, and throughout the political spectrum. New faces need to believe they have an even chance of winning in a truly democratic election.===
Let’s be very clear.
Rauner wants Raunerites.
K? K.
The ILGOP is Rauner’s way to make Raunerism “mainstream GOP”
If you are fooled by Raunerite ideals usurping the ILGOP, that’s on you.

==That is how we ended up with a $100 billion unfunded pension liability. Even with our massive tax bills, our government spends a dollar-thirty for every dollar it takes in==
He is talking only about STATE pensions in giving out that unfunded figure - so don’t throw in property taxes here. I would not call 3.75% (and 3% for twenty years) state tax rates, massive tax bills, when one looks at the rates of Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri, Kentucky, Minnesota, and just about every other of the 40-some states that have a state income tax.

People want term limits because we have a broken election system, if we fix it with redistricting reform and campaign finance reform, then term limits will happen more naturally.

With “Not It” on this one. Used to be in favor of term limits bUT have come to the conclusion that it is undemocratic (Rob Martwick agrees). Of course, if Rauner truly believed in more representative government, he would also support severe campaign contribution limits so the voice of the little people would be heard. Of course, in his world, some are more equal than others.

Not It has it right — the issues are campaign financing reform and independently drawn redistricting.

Rauner (and may of the editorial boards of Illinois newspapers) seem to be implying that if 600,000 thousand people sign a petition on something, then that should override the Illinois Constitution and the Illinois Supreme Court.

Gov. Rauner: ” The politicians long in power ignored the petitions…and they won’t even debate the issues…”
If that’s so, Governor Rauner, will you support the Millionaires Tax, which had overwhelming support of the voters?
