…yet a labor union donating $10,000 is “corrupt.” Whatever.

I misread the headline and my first thought was, “that’s a lot of pancakes.”
ILGOP. IHOP. I’m still on my first cup of coffee.

He’d have a lot better chance at buying the state if Trump weren’t at the top of the ticket. Nonetheless, this is sickening.

Maybe the IL Dems ought to be looking for a sugar daddy/sugar momma to step up as well.

It’s Rauner funding the races, it appears, after everyone signs off on the monies and where they need to go… then spent as quickly as they’re transferred(?)
Rauner is not only funding races, he’s make quite clear that he will “take it from here” on the autonomy thingy.
I think that’s the disturbing thing for me.
Rauner holds the cash right up to the point of spending, just so Rauner can have the final, final say and control the Raunerite messaging his money is paying for with these transfers.
But, Rauner is NOT engaged in the politics. “Honest”.

I heard a Stewart/Kay ad on KMOX this morning during drive-time - expensive advertising with more listeners in St. Louis compared to the Metro East.
I guess someone will have to tell me if they get time on the three hours of Limbaugh at mid-day.
BVR will be writing many more checks before the election.

Skeptic + 1
That’s the key message right there. Rauner attacks unions representing thousands of middle class people as corrupt, while he and his wealthy buds spend mega-money to kill those unions and give themselves tax breaks.
In the process, they’ve killed and crippled social service programs throughout the state and turned IL Higher Ed into an endangered species.
Now which entity is corrupt?

“And also, I’ll make one other general statement and that is I am strongly, strongly opposed to ransom payments of any type for hostages.”
…but I’m strongly, strongly not opposed to dropping a little scratch to beef up my own personal abductor squad
Comment by LizPhairTax Tuesday, Aug 23, 16 @ 10:02 am
Why is anyone surprised?
Boatloads of money is how he became Governor. Slams against the opposition coupled with vague statements, like “shake up Springfield.”
Wash, rinse, repeat.

IHOP has a brighter future than ILGOP. And it appeals to a younger and more diverse crowd.

Nailed it right there.
What I do not get is how some of those that are negatively impacted by the Rauner’s of the world run hard to carry his flag.
@47th- You win the day! Love me some IHOP!

Over the Sunday news shows, it was stated that Trump has only spent $48 mil own his own money to try and get elected toe the highest office in the land. Boy… Rauner could teach him a thing or two about how to “manage” campaign finances. /(HUGE snark!)
Comment by Anon221 Tuesday, Aug 23, 16 @ 10:33 am
I was reading that since “the Donald” is the GOP candidate, the national GOP doesn’t have money to put into local races.

And I love hearing the governor claim my $4.20 contribution per paycheck to PEOPLE is somehow corrupt…

Rauner is the ultimate special interest. As governor he is literally an insider, spending huge sums of money in politics to advance his interests.
Comment by Grandson of Man Tuesday, Aug 23, 16 @ 12:39 pm
And let us not forget the $2.5 million that Rauner gave to Dan Proft’s Liberty Principles PAC this summer.

Hopefully Rauner is watching so the so called Chicago gop types like frank capuzi doesn’t give the money to the dems.
Comment by Southloop Tuesday, Aug 23, 16 @ 6:42 pm
Gov. Rauner is upside down in the polls - that is a large number of disapproving voters. But what to do ? Rauner is not on the ballot this time. Like in the primaries, his money may be telling people who to vote against more than who to vote for.
Comment by peon Tuesday, Aug 23, 16 @ 10:05 pm
He’ll spend at least $40 mil before all is said and done. Imagine $60 mil two years ago $40 this time and who knows how much in 2018?
Comment by DuPage Bard Wednesday, Aug 24, 16 @ 1:08 am
How will he feel when he finds his money is wasted because people of the state feel that he and his friends have already caused enough chaos in the state?
Comment by NoGifts Wednesday, Aug 24, 16 @ 5:39 am
Don’t underestimate his following, he still has a strong following that will distort the facts and people will follow. the only way this November ends well is if people get out and talk to the voters and bring light to his lies.
