* Tribune…
Republican Comptroller Leslie Geissler Munger and Democratic challenger Susana Mendoza are scheduled to face off for the first time Thursday during an afternoon appearance before the Chicago Tribune Editorial Board.
The race for the normally low-profile office that oversees the state’s checkbook has morphed into a key proxy battle between Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner, who appointed Munger, and Democratic House Speaker Michael Madigan, a Mendoza mentor. […]
Also scheduled to appear are Green Party candidate Tim Curtin, of Hillside, and Libertarian candidate Claire Ball, of Addison.
Assuming the technology gods cooperate, the 1 p.m. endorsement session will be live-streamed on the Chicago Tribune’s Facebook page and home page.
That ought to be a good show, if nothing else.

I’m looking forward to the long division test.

I’m always shocked that Democratic candidates still go to the Trib’s ed board. At this point they’re largely indistinguishable from a Dan Proft mailer.

My #1 race to watch here in Illinois. Nothing is even close to this race.
I do hope they discuss the constitutional duties of the office… and the constitutionality of “assessing” Legislstive pay and the oath of office. That would be fun.
I dunno if it adds up, but… I digress.

Tribune/Tronc/Rauner Daily News will never endorse Mendoza..not sure why she’s going..

Like OW said, I hope someone asks Leslie about the constitutionality of pulling a “Quinn”.
What’s next, is she planning on taking the air out of their car tires?

Actually, it’s nice to see that unlike the two running for U.S Senate Munger and Mendosa are at least grown up enough to be willing to show up together at the same time and in the same room.

why is Mendoza going? and be accused of being afraid to go up against LM? this will certainly not be as simple as going up against an arithmetic ask, but SM is a fighter, so she will battle.

=not sure why she’s going=
Maybe she has the stones to go into hostile territory. Unlike her opponent.
Also, you cannot get what you do not ask for. Usually.

Tronch’s first question was, “Bruce Rauner. A great Illinois governor or the greatest Illinois governor?”

Munger insists everything is available on her website, but that’s not accurate. The website details who has been paid and how much, but it does not disclose who is still waiting to get paid. That information is only disclosed if you FOIA and it takes months to get a response.

=takes months to get a response.=
That is a FOIA violation. 5 business days.

Mendoza is very likeable, they won’t endorse he but the livestream will be out there. If she comes across way better and people see it….
