* Zoe Galland for Crain’s…
Gov. Bruce Rauner’s approval rating comes in at 33 percent in a new poll.
MorningConsult, a media and polling firm, finds that the governor’s disapproval rating is at 56 percent. Governors who are more unpopular include New Jersey’s Chris Christie, Michigan’s Rick Snyder and, at No. 1, Kansas’ Sam Brownback.
Where would Rauner’s numbers be if he actually got his agenda through?
I about spit out my coffee when I read that line.
According to the poll, Rauner is just slightly more popular than Maine’s bizarre governor Paul LePage.
Whew.
* However, take these numbers with a gigantic grain of salt…
Morning Consult surveyed 71,900 registered voters in all 50 states from early May 2016 through early September 2016. Survey respondents were asked whether they approved or disapproved of their governor’s job performance.
Ancient numbers and an online poll.

This actually sounds like a question of the day with heavily encourage snark.

CC is going to be tough to beat going forward given yesterday’s news (bridge, not bombing-related) from the Garden State, but I think Rauner has a real shot at overtaking Snyder and Brownback. Go Bruce!

Actually, I’m surprised that it is that high !!!

It’s right to question, or even ignore, an online poll.
But precisely what about September 2016 versus May 2016 would make a difference? Granted, there’s been a lot of motorcycle-ridin’, cowboy shirt wearin’ and restaurant droppin’-in this summer, but as far as I can tell that’s been it.

May thru September?
Online poll?
I’d trust this poll as much as I trust Rauner when he says he’s not involved in campaigns.

Yeah the poll is a bit old, but President Nixon’s numbers are up, so I’m sure he’s thrilled…

== Actually, I’m surprised that it is that high !!! ==
I am too.
Must mean 33% of Illinois voters are also business owners who hope to reap the benefits of the TA. /s

As FiveThirtyEight repeatedly points out — it’s not the single poll that matters, it’s the data model for the trend that’s the make-or-break.
Ancient numbers? Ok, whatever. Online? Whatever.
But show me a data model of multiple Rauner polls that disputes (or confirms) this single — and then I’m interested.
I suspect — a hunch — that this poll would fall in line with a consistent trend.

At about 85% disapproval.

–Where would Rauner’s numbers be if he actually got his agenda through?–
Aye, there’s the rub.
Right so if failure has made him this unpopular. Think about where success would land him. It’s not about victories for working people, for the vulnerable, for the sick, for veterans, for the aged, for the homeless,
Even for the taxpayer,
To the corporations and to the wealthy would go the spoils of a Rauner victory.
The Turnaround agenda was only designed to destroy labor and the last remaining protections and forces from lowering wages for the working person. It was also designed to set up privatization and corporate takeover of government function which removed again checks and balances away from the people into the hands of corporations.

Well, the first day it rained, the second day there was a power failure, … or the numbers would have been higher. /s

http://www.lincolncourier.com/news/20160920/gov-rauner-to-answer-questions-on-facebook-live-at-noon Scroll down and view the STATE OF ILLINOIS colored RED! I can’t believe how I’m shocked at the sight. LOL Maybe we can get a sense of how popular he really is at lunchtime.

Hmmm, why no mention of America’ s second most unpopular Governor, Connecticut’s Dan Malloy with a 70 percent disapproval rating?
Could it be that just raising taxes and not reforming government and their business environment is not working?

Open ended online polls are useless for anything more than pure entertainment. But in the process, by their sheer numbers, they also unfortunately help mute and dilute the learnings that can be achieved from legitimate, actual polls run by polling organizations that are conducted to cover a specific point in time or that attempt to gauge the impact of a specific event. Many readers are grinning at the Rauner numbers of this “poll”, but as Rich wisely says, “grain of salt”.

OK this was a bad, old poll — so let’s see some results from a good, recent one. Are there any? Are any in the works?

I’m a little curious about his lunchtime Q and A, but I think you have to like him on FB to watch and I can’t bring myself to do it. He’ll probably only take the questions he can use to his advantage anyway.

RNUG, I’ll take it a step further. I know there are a lot of Private Equity Firms in Illinois… But 33%??? There must be some Charter School scammers mixed in with the Private Equity scammers.

You can unlike him after it’s over.

If it meant we had a stable, balanced budget with some taxation predictability for businesses and individuals, I think the numbers would go up.

“You can unlike him after it’s over.” Kinda like AFSCME is doing after many of their members voted for him.

High disapproval rating is meaningless - look at HRC’s polling numbers in Illinois.

His Facebook questions are designed to allow him easier access to your posts… Just sayin, if you post anything negative about him you might be disciplined. He’s going to have to access my posts the old fashioned way… By hiring a hacker!

Online makes it highly questionable, but seems in line with other polls I’ve seen, albeit a few points lower (if memory serves).
