* Considering his ties to Gov. Rauner and former Mayor Daley, it’s highly doubtful that he could succeed at this endeavor anyway…
Former U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan on Tuesday said he’s not considering a run for Chicago mayor or Illinois governor.
The former CEO of Chicago Public Schools, who returned to Chicago after spending seven years in President Barack Obama’s Cabinet, is now a managing partner at California-based Emerson Collective, which is seeking to put money into programs in poor neighborhoods while promoting economic growth.
Speaking to the Chicago Sun-Times, Duncan said he is not considering a run for Chicago mayor or Illinois governor. Duncan would not be eligible run for governor in 2018 because of a residency requirement for statewide office.

Duncan also ruled out future bids for Dalai Lama or Miss Universe.
Where did that come from?

How about US Senate when Durbin runs for Governor? No residency requirement for that office.

My sources tell me that Duncan is running for governor…Ken Duncan, that is. He is accepting money from both parties and paying it out double to voters.

But, you know, thanks for asking. You did ask, right?

If he doesn’t meet the residency requirement, it is obvious Secty. Duncan did not go the Rahm Emanuel school of politics!

The cynicism of the preceding posts was merited in the case of Mr Duncan. His legacy of sound fiscal management of CPS has been obvious since he left for Washington DC.

Arne Duncan should go back to doing what he CAN do - playing basketball.
He was a disaster at CPS and a disaster at Dept. of Education.
Race-to-the-Top will go down in history as the worst public education policy ever.
He was in charge during the for-profit university debacle which will be costing taxpayers billions, if not trillions in defaulted student loans for years to come.
Love the Martin Smith interview with Arne on this Frontline doc:

And that Frontline doc is the original investigation,”College, Inc.”
It was done in 2010….2010 - SIX YEARS ago and they’re just now getting around to begin shutting these places down.

Hmmn, I wonder how the guy who may have helped the Governor’s daughter get into Payton Prep in place of a more qualified poor student would do running for Mayor?
Yes, that forms a sound basis for a run for office!

As an educator, the man is a great basketball player.
