Nope. That was the Russians, not us

Posted in:

* I see this video posted on Twitter at least once a day, usually more…

https://t.co/Qf8RJLHH14 @GovRauner @RepBost @BostTrump16 @lee_baier @TeamTrump_IL @ILdemocrats ILLINOIS ELECTION FRAUD CAMERA @2ndfor1st

— Deplorable Dana Eliz (@DanaElizabeth69) October 25, 2016

* From Snopes.com

On 10 October 2016, the Christian Times Newspaper web site published an article reporting that “new evidence is surfacing” showing “widespread voter fraud carried out by Hillary Clinton supporters during the primary election” […]

This report is false, and no alleged “hidden camera and surveillance footage” documenting voter fraud is actually viewable on the site. The screenshot that accompanies the article was actually taken from BBC news footage about alleged vote fraud in Russia, not the United States […]

The Christian Times Newspaper (not to be confused with the legitimate Christian Times newspaper) is a fake news web site that has exploited the current political scene by publishing multiple fabricated clickbait stories related to the upcoming presidential election, including a false claim that thousands of pre-marked ballots for Hillary Clinton and other Democratic candidates had been found in a warehouse in Ohio.

How ironic.

* I’ve also seen a 2014 story about electronic votes being changed from Republican to Democrat recycled to make it look like this was actually happening to Trump backers. Click here for the Snopes debunk.

  1. ===Nope. That was the Russians, not us===

I can see where the American public might be confused since the alt right in this country appears to be adopting most of Russia’s dis-information techniques.

  8. We’re even getting it downstate. I’ve seen Facebook posts today claiming local news outlets confirming touch screen machines in St. Clair County changing Republican votes to Democratic. Nope.

  9. Looks like the three point line hasn’t made it to Russia yet. Too elitist.

  10. If the GOP loses, it’s vote fraud and if the Democrats lose its because of vote fraud.

    Pick your fraud, right?

Comment by VanillaMan Tuesday, Oct 25, 16 @ 12:07 pm

  11. So does everyone just believe Snopes is not biased in any way whatsoever? I’m at a point where I don’t really believe anything reported by any news outlet anymore.

  13. This reminds me… what happened with the big Kankakee voter fraud outbreak?

Or is Tim Schneider and the Illinois GOP keeping quiet on that now that they sound so much like Trump’s “rigged” protests and they need to run so much away from their nominee?

  16. @ BigDoggie: Snopes isn’t a news outlet. It’s a website dedicated to debunking urban legends and online rumors. Take off the tin foil hat; you’ll look less ridiculous.

  18. Haven’t had a chance to check this out, but CNN reported the other night that Republicans are in charge of voting processes in 30 of the 50 states.

  19. I try very hard to stay open-minded.

    1. I find Snopes to be a little annoying as they regularly rephrase the premise of a question. Then, they pretend to answer the original question. Pretty tricky trick.

    2. It is obvious that the chasm between the reporting of all news outlets is huge and odd.

    3. A person is sleeping if they do not understand the shortcoming presented by the lack of an audit trail with electronic voting. Funny things can, and do, happen daily with regard to the integrity of programs and programmers. Sometimes by design and sometimes by accident…..

Don’t be so quick to dismiss the possibilities of a purposeful manipulation.

  20. As Charles Cooke of NR noted, one problem with twitter is this:

    https://twitter.com/JuddLegum/status/789470421146013696

That tweet has been retweeted 5300 times.

This tweet, which corrects the picture and proves it’s specious, only has 89:

I don’t know about you, but my electronic voting machine generates and stores a paper record for audit purposes.

Now, let’s get serious and talk about how the government staged the moon landing in a television studio….

  22. JTR, it would be impossible to sample those receipts.

I am glad my county uses paper ballots.

Again, I am just staying open-minded and that characteristic has worked well for many years. I am usually prepared for the curve balls.

  23. Snopes isn’t always right, but if you present them with convincing evidence, they’ll correct their postings. I know, I did it once.
