* I told subscribers about this the other day, but thought you might like to see it too. From WSIL TV in Carterville, the home of several contested legislative races…
Just during the month of October, 75% of WSIL’s advertising has been geared towards state and local politics.
75 percent. Whew.
* My parents were watching WSIL last night and sent me this video of just one random commercial break…
At least two of those ads were directed at out of state voters.

I’m still trying to figure out how the Porter County Indiana Clerks race has enough interest in it to afford paying for Chicago media market prices.

I googled Gregg and Indiana to find out who he was. Indiana Democrats must have lots of money.
Depressing realization is that some of the shows we watch on demand will have these commercials playing long after the election.

I mentioned on here before that when I was in Carbondale on the 14th, EVERY commercial on WSIL’s 10 pm newscast was a political add, including two from Missouri.

“At least two of those ads were directed at out of state voters.”
For those who don’t know, the media market down there has an ABC station in Illinois, NBC in Kentucky, and CBS in Missouri. When I lived down there it seems like one of those three states was constantly holding an election for something!

On WGN’s morning news program at this point I pray there is at least one ad for one of the 8 million mattress places, otherwise wall to wall political ads.
Been There, I think they are running for a state senate seat in Indiana, not for clerk.

Bill Clinton’s favorite media market for a reason. One buy, four states and, from there, people telling people, just like on this blog.

I am so sick and tired of political commercials! The battle is raging over cigarette taxes in Missouri! Looks to me like they are all lying. Kentucky has some good ones Rand Paul’s opponent has an ad that can be easily accepted as for Paul, to me anyway. Simon has the best IL ad. Anything anti Rauner is great down here!

Thanks One Man. You are probably right. It’s hard to actually pay total attention at this stage.

We lived in Hanover, IL in 1976 (Nw IL) and saw the ads from Iowa, Wisconsin and IL. It was a good education for the kids! Carter was a peanut farmer, nucular physicist or Democrat depending on source of ad.

To the ads, I wonder how far past the point of effectiveness we are with all these adds. 3x? 10x?
Rich, over the holidays you need to install a wall mount with a shelf or set up an entertainment center for their TV and cable box.

It’s no wonder — KY has its gubernatorial and statewide elections in odd-numbered years (believe their last one was in 2015), MO has theirs in the presidential years, and we have ours in the midterm years (2010, 2014, 2018).
