That the governor and GA should shell out $157K a year for every social service worker who got canned after the state reneged on its contracts.
That’s what it’s going to cost Exelon customers for each of those nuke plant jobs they “saved.”
What a deal — the social service workers would actually fulfill unmet needs. Exelon customers are getting taxed extra for something they were already paying for.

Only one Godawful song fits right now: “Through the Years” by Kenny Rogers.

I’ll offer a serious answer, I’d like to see the state give its people the tools to thrive. In our first 50 years we built the railroads to come to a head here, we dug the canal and reversed the flow of the Chicago river. All the cattle came to Chicago and we had a waterway from the Great Lakes to the Mississippi River and given those tools our people did the rest. Hopefully we can today match that vision and foresight for the next 50 years.

Judging by some of the piles in Springfield, we already have one.
I would wish everyone had their own Oscar.

A massive oil strike

An unprecedented show of conscience followed by the resignation of the governor and the four leaders. And Evelyn too.

=== A massive oil strike ===
Huh, I didn’t know oil was unionized. Is shale gas in the same local?

Does Dr. Kervorkian’s successor do states?

–A massive oil strike–
The oil’s there. The price just ain’t right for new wells.
Supposedly, OPEC has agreed to cut production. I’ll believe it when I see it. Individual members are renowned for cheating. It remains a consumers, not producers, market.

Although my comment was tongue and cheek, it was based off an extremely uninformed idea of how Kasich was successful in Ohio. Help me out a little; was there an oil strike there that went a long way into remedying the financial pitfalls Kasich inherited, or am I way off base?
Comment by AlfondoGonz Monday, Dec 5, 16 @ 11:10 am
AG, I don’t know from the Ohio budget.
When it comes to shale oil, the break even point for new wells varies greatly by local geology.
West Texas crude is about $50 a barrel right now. Apparently, not soup yet for New Albany shale.

Rich: Just wondering what you have planned to celebrate the 100th General Assembly convening in January.
A decade by decade ranking of great legislation passed or a ranking of the best accomplishments attained by the “Best and Brightest Profiles in Courage” who have served in the Illinois General Assembly?
