More of this, please! Megabus announced 100 layoffs for January. Ryder has 140 jobs going. Let’s raise the gas tax a little bit for everyone in the state to save those jobs. Redistribution is the way to prosperity.

$235 million a year of other people’s money in Exelon’s pocket, at $156K a year per “saved” job.
At that price, shouldn’t those paying the freight get a piece of the action, like in stock?
If Exelon raised that kind of money in the capital markets, they’d have to give something.

A week ago BigBrain was racin’ around IL tryin’ to kill the bill and blame Madigan. When the SuperStars ’splained it would not work out that way hs hires the marchin’ bands to play Hail to the Chief ….very zany. BTW it is unlikely ratepayers will even notice the microscopic rate hike needed to keep the nukes glowin’

This is a major PR mistake by Rauner and his Superstars. Yes, two towns are wildly happy with him for this bailout … but the rest of State likely is far less than thrilled.

Time for a drive-by. I just love celebrating a bailout! While we’re at it, how about CPS? “We don’t want our tax dollars used to bail out Chicago” you say? And, you say, ” this is not a tax, the government is not taxing us!” And I say, who you crappin? The Governor just increased our taxes and you didn’t say a thing about it…how about we just allow Excelon to put a CPS tax on your bills to fund education? Would you celebrate it then….?

I know plenty of people that work their butts off and are dirt poor. Hard work is what your boss tells you. Let me tell you, the key to capitalism is making as much money as possible while doing as little work as possible and convincing everyone else that that is a dirty lie. Hard work. Please. I know absolutely no one wealthy or even upper-middle class that got there by working hard. You need to have a little brains and some good luck. Actual work has nothing to do with it.

ducky, talk to some small business owners that are doing well. they didn’t get that way from doing as little as possible. social time for them doesn’t really exist and they work non stop on building their business.

The Dems should show fixed income seniors cheering that they pay more for electric. Or have them throw on an extra sweater for that energy efficiency stuff. Maybe show a school cutting a bus line or two and kids spending and extra 30 minutes on a bus route because of an increase in electric rates for the school. Dimmer switches in surgery rooms-just use those headlamp things you only need the light where your really working. Cut some hours at the plant to make up for the increase in electric costs running the line.
Lots of good opportunities to cheer this bill. Ugh

Pep rallies at high schools? I’m kind of embarrassed for the Governor. Kids can be counted on to cheer loudly, especially when they get out of class to do it.
“You kids are in high school today, but thanks to the rate payers in Chicago and elsewhere, someday you and your pals can be like Homer, Lenny and Carl, and work for the rest of your lives in Sector 7-G. God bless you, God bless Illinois, and God bless the rate payers of Com Ed and Ameren!”

60/71 and 30/36 is what any governor needs.
This is an example where Rauner worked, worked the actual forming of the bill, got his totals, and got the bill he wanted passed for a clean signature.
Your silliness forgets… Rauner has no want for passage, Rauner is purposely leveraging for votes that don’t have support, unlike this bill.
Why is Rauner so happy? Rauner got this through… conventionally. I’d be happy too, if I was new to the actual governing process…
… that and the Dem leaders help with a lift that all wanted.

They gave in the form of campaign donations and lobbyist fees.
As far as when is a bailout a bailout, it only applies to a certain Big City school district, not to a giant corporation.

Exelon purchased the Clinton plant for $40 mill. It cost $4 BILLION to build it. That’s a 90% discount, or 10 cents on the dollar, and THEY STILL can’t make money? Horse Hockey

Meanwhile COMED has the Rock Island Clean Line transmission line project tied up in court. That line is to bring a lot of cheap wind power from Iowa into Illinois. I see a reason Illinois manufacturers will want to move to Iowa, and it has nothing to do with workers comp insurance.

This will no doubt have a bigger negative impact on my business but work comp reform is needed. I would say even more so after this. My thin PM just got thinner. Springfield can’t just keep hammering small businesses. Ugh.
