  1. Could there be any less doubt that Catherine Zaryczny was a Matlak (or at the least a Machine) plant? She parroted Waguespack through the whole primary (”Yes, I agree with Scott”) and then a week later has a sudden epiphany and endorses Matlak?

    Please.

If it smells like fish, it must be fishy.

(I was actually going to write that she did a total 180 and then I read the Reader piece. Great minds…)

Can’t wait to see the Wags mailers on this one. A spinning top? A wheel of fortune? A Zaryczny mask on Matlak’s face? LOL!

  2. Wow, talk about being suckered. 1000 voters got suckered into voting for the “other” reform candidate and she turns around and marches them into the matlak camp. Nice setup. Voters in 32, where are you….?

  3. Just wait until she gets slated for a judgeship by the 32nd ward organization. That’s how it’s done in these parts.

For what it’s worth, the mail pieces I got from her attacked both Matlak and Waguespack.

She went after Waguespack for being under investigation for campaigning on Berwyn city time and for promoting himself as a lawyer when he’s never passed the bar exam.

  4. Even more interesting is that Zaryczny loaned her campaign about $15,000 in the 10 days before the election but only filed the A-1 this morning.

Gee, I wonder how she’s going to retire that debt. I guess Waguespack and SEIU just weren’t quick enough with their checkbooks.

  5. Your Reilly piece was right on target.

In my neighborhood, my wife and I first had a long meeting with Adam Gypalo (around August) and about a week later, Brendan was out meeting people at the dog park (with his dog — good for credibility). From there, we ended up with strong supporters in most of the buildings around us. They turned out and voted. Our area went big for Reilly.

On election day, the campaign flooded the area with lawyers to keep things honest and protect our pollwatchers. Reilly in a year built a far better ground organization than a 36 year incumbent Committeeman.

One more note: I previously posted that I suspected that the Reilly people laughed at the Natarus ads. Now that it is over, I can confirm that they did. Every evening I would walk my dog over to Reilly HQ bringing whatever Natarus sent us. And then we would have our laugh for the day.
Like somebody else said, if one mailer a day is good, five nearly identical mailers in a day is even better!

  6. One more note about Reilly:

The Forrest Claypool endorsement was very big. Peraica won the 42nd by about 59-41. The 42nd didn’t like Stroger, and did like Claypool.

When Daley endorsed Natarus, people didn’t take it very seriously (the robocalls sounded like they were done in one take).

The Claypool endorsement caused a lot of people to realize that this was serious, that Reilly could win, and that important people were standing up for Reilly.

    1. When did he ever claim to be an attorney?

    2. He’s taken a leave of absence from his post in Berwyn so her other point is a blatant lie.

    3. I’m sure Matlak will use both points if he ever wakes up and realizes he has a race going on.

  9. Following up on the NW post::

Zaryczny is the last person that should be commenting on somebody’s legal career. What in the world as she ever done as a lawyer?

  10. Re: Winning against the Machine — Manny Flores did a nice job a few years back of ridding the 1st Ward of Jesse Granato. He ran unopposed this time around.

  11. How old is Naisy Dolar? She acts like a 15 year old.

  12. Voter for Catherine Zaryczny were dupped! She should be ashamed as an Officer of the Court! Catherine mispoke about Scott Wagespack, he is on unpaid leave from the City of Berwyn, which was approved by the Berwyn City Council. He has never campaigned on city time. The 32nd Ward would do itself a huge favor to elect Scott, he is a man of integrity and character! GO SCOTT!!
