* From Gov. Rauner’s WBEZ interview today…
TONY SARABIA: OK, before I let you go, just a last question. And we hear a lot of this from listeners often when we have you on the show, that they’re hearing the same points and answers and I’m wondering what have you said today that was different than you have said in the past?
GOV. BRUCE RAUNER: Well Tony, when we’re on a path, a good path to change the system, there’s no reason for different answers.
Whoa.
* More from the governor…
You know, I have people come up to me every day, Democrats and Republicans who identify themselves as such, Democrats come to me and say ‘Governor, stay strong, you’re on the right track.’
I had an elderly woman come up to me recently, she grabbed me by the arm and she had a little, kind of teary eyed, and she looked at me and she said, ‘Please, governor, you’re our last hope. Don’t give up. Stay the course. We’ve got to change our system.’
Discuss.

Elderly Woman: Please, governor, you’re our last hope. Don’t give up. Stay the course. We’ve got to change our system.
Bruce: We could tax your retirement income.
Elderly Woman: Not that kind of change.

These anecdotal stories are, I assume, outright lies. It’s easy to sound authentic when your sources are imaginary.
The other day a little old man came up to me and called me a genius. I’ve never met anybody like you. You’re smarter than Hawking and Turing combined.
So, yeah, I’m well on my way to being the world’s smartest person. The course is beset with obstacles. But I’ll stay it. It’s all I can do.

The general public is fed up with high taxes & more taxes. They are fed up with MJM and public unions.
This isn’t me talking, it is what we all read online, what we hear out in public.

Until I see this little old lady on screen with a notarized affidavit that she is an Illinois resident and not an actor or a figment of Rauner’s active campaingin’, then she does not exist and that statement of his is on outright lie.

Here is the problem with your statement.
Mo. 6%
Wisc 7.65%
Iowa 8.98%
Ohio 5.3%
All republican controlled and as City Zen always points out they tax retirement income also. Looks to me like republicans are the tax and spenders.

That elderly woman was named Leia and Bruce happened to have been on Tatooine at the time.

“Democrats come to me and say ‘Governor, stay strong, you’re on the right track.’”
The Bruce Rauner Alternate Reality Tour continues unabated. In this case he used the plural of Democrat when in reality his wife is just one person.

When you are untouched and untouchable from the financial ruin and personal devastation that some ILlinoisans have experienced, I guess you actually would think things are great.
Financial isolation is the answer apparenty.

==Ohio 5.3%==
It’s actually 4.997%. And I thought 4.95% was pandering.
Comment by City Zen Friday, Jun 2, 17 @ 1:15 pm
I stand corrected city zen.
I ask all my millionaire friends would you rather pay 1.9% taxes on your home or 6% on your intire income. They all took the 1.9 but for a carafe jo Illinois property tax rigged in favor of rich.

I saw Governor Rauner speak a couple of weeks ago, and he told this story of how he was driving around Chicago, and saw this girl with her mother standing on the sidewalk. So he rolled down the window, and the girl pointed at him and said “Look mom! It’s Mayor Daley!”
True story.
(This is not in fact a true story about this governor. But it is getting easier and easier to imagine that it is.)

Here’s some information about the person: They drive a pristine VW van from the 1990s, like to wear Carhartt when getting pictures taken, and currently live in a little house on the north end of Springfield because their old drafty house is currently undergoing some renovations.

Wow, that’s a lot of ? Let me help you Google
If you actually looked into facts instead of just using GOP polling # I think you would be surprised. Again would you rather pay 4.95% of your intire income or pay less on things you can control like sales tax. Btw a lot of the sales tax, and property’s tax are voted on at local level not state. And if state paid 50% of school ed. Instead of 26% you property tax would be lower.

What in the #$%&* do you think you’re doing? When I see you blaming everybody but yourself, I think, ‘No hope. We’ve got no hope at all.’” –
More likely. More believable.

Maybe he out to try taking a walk in Chicago to get some balancing opinions.

So Tired, if you have taxable income of $100K, the increase of 3.75% to 4.95% is an additional $1200 annually. Have you seen the increase in real estate taxes over the last 5 years on a $300K house and see what the taxes are compared to a $300K house in surrounding states? In Florida?
Have you seen gas prices in Missouri compared to IL, for instance?
What are sales taxes in Chicago, roughly 10%?

Eerily similar to the weirdo stories that Blago used to make up.

So Tired—Somebody with a $100K income is likely not living in a $100K house.
