Chicago has already made plans to open 10 new charter campuses in the next two years. If Davis’ legislation becomes law, at least nine of those campuses will never open. Thousands of students will have to change their fall plans, and millions of dollars will have been wasted on capital development.

“This is astounding, even by Chicago standards,” said Better Government Association President Jay Stewart. “In light of 9/11, there are genuine concerns at wastewater treatment plants. It is difficult to evaluate the article regarding inner city hospitals without knowing the average daily vacancy rate in hospitals citywide and without an evaluation of how many of these patients need to be in the hospital vs. at home with an appropriate level of home care.
While having a nearby hospital is convenient, I think most savvy patients would rather travel a few miles and get superior care. And I believe most of the large, wealthy hospitals do take Medicaid.
Most medical care takes place on an outpatient basis and I agree that nearby clinics should be available to all. But I believe that is the case already in Chicago and Cook County, anyway.
If there really is a shortage of needed hospital beds (which I doubt) perhaps a better solution would be for the wealthier hospitals to absorb the
poorer ones as outposts, so the poorer hospitals and, more importantly, their patients, can get the benefits of 21st century medical knowledge and technology.

Thought Jack Hartman made the Illinois Tollway a well oiled machine? A WELL OILED PATRONAGE MACHINE!
They doubled the tolls two years ago, now $2.00 on the North-South Tollway (I-355). Stay tuned campers this just the beginning.
The Illinois Tollway is a major dumping ground for Blagojevich losers.

Another interesting tidbit today from a John McCormick Tribune story, an interesting quote from “one person involved with Obama’s fundraising”:
“This is a campaign that, unlike the Hillary Clinton campaign, is a start-up… But at some point, it has to run like an established company and not a start-up. There’s a great deal of stress in this campaign right now. There are people who are unhappy with the chaos.”

Red Flag: Illinois Tollway’s Chief Engineer Jeff Dailey (Rubber Stamp) is approving construction invoices without question.
Fitz should really take hard look into the construction contracts let by the Illinois Tollway the last four+ years. It’s staggering the amount money just being given away!
Mr. Dailey is certainly taking care of many of Governor Blagojevich’s powerbrokers.
