cheap shot. That’s what the floor looks like during the prayer and pledge every regular session day. There is never, ever, ever, a full floor at the gavel in. That’s what the announcement of “senators within the sound of my voice please report to the floor for substantive action.”
The substantive action is in the House.

Phonier than Rauner’s smile in the unity speech.
Gov. Gaslight purposely put us in a crisis that he himself called unnecessary but yeah, let’s knock the Senate for not being there to say the pledge like this is second grade.
Dishonest, disingenuous and downright smarmy.

The ship has sailed, this state aint coming back. 2 families within a block of me are moving out of state soon. Tax and spend, spend and tax won’t work.

Usually Mary Ann is better than this. Disappointing.
Where is the pic of the House. All the senate bills are over there. Truthfully there is no way to only call one chamber into special session. That’s why they both have to be in. But everyone knows the Senate finished their work by the May 31 adjournment. The House didn’t even bother to stay in until they were done. They took a whole week off in MAY of all months, and then adjourned by 5 or 6 on May 31 without taking up any budget bills. This is a really cheap shot on the Senate.

I really hate this disingenuous type of reporting. This is what it looks like during the pledge and invocation 90% of the time, as noted above. Do. Better. Don’t go for the quick and dirty clicks, try harder.
Stop it with the “but this looks bad, that’s why I’m reporting it! People are saying…” It is your job to provide context and background for what happens. Sure, report what the “people are saying” but provide MORE than that. (It would also be helpful to include WHO is saying WHAT and WHY)

That’s called legislate and appropriate. It’s also called a budget. Revenue and Appropriations.
Or work: you make money, so you can go spend your money. Same thing.

No, they didn’t. Their budget did not address the bill backlog at all. And they pulled out of a workers’ comp agreement. Lots of work left to do.

bill backlog
SB4 passed May 17, 36-15-6. No republican votes. 7 billion in backlog bills. Trotter bill.
They also sent a Workers Comp bill, that can be amended in the House like all the other ones. Not sure if that was on a HB or SB tho.
All the budget vehicles are in the House.

Better?
No. That totally depends on what. Education? Not enough. After school programs? Not enough. Tax cuts for major corps that already don’t pay any imcome tax passing that burden down to the rest of us…way too much. Tax? Broaden the base. Our structural problems are because we don’t tax a wide enough base for our arbitrarily low flat tax. But my point is that tax and spend is the actual job of a legislator.
