Rauner Highlights Education Record in New Digital Series
Diana Rauner Talks Governor’s Record, Commitment to EducationAs lawmakers return to Springfield to deal with Mike Madigan’s political games, the Rauner campaign today released new digital ads featuring Illinois First Lady Diana Rauner, highlighting Governor Bruce Rauner’s longtime to commitment to improving education.
As Governor, Bruce Rauner increased K-12 education funding by $700 million and brought state support for early childhood education to record levels.
Rauner has worked to do what no Governor has done in years – bring educators and lawmakers from both sides of the aisle together to finally fix Illinois’ broken school funding system.
Rauner is committed to being the education Governor. That’s why he favors bipartisan reform of the education funding formula that is fair to all schoolchildren and supports an evidence based funding model.
* The ad…
* Script…
Bruce and I share a passion for education.
It’s motivated him his entire life.
It’s about ensuring that every child has the opportunity to be successful in life.
We know how lucky we are to have the opportunities to help other people.
And we treat it like a mission.
Bruce has increased education funding by $700 million dollars.
He increased early childhood education to its highest level ever.
It’s about doing what’s right, not what’s easy.
We’re doing this for our next generation.
Notice she’s careful to say education funding, not education spending. The state still owes K-12 a huge pile of money that it couldn’t pay out because of the impasse. At last check, it was about a billion dollars.

How about higher education? How did Bruce do there, Mrs. Rauner?

Rauner and Diana Democrat choose to put her out there. She’s subject to criticism.
It’s easy to promise more education funding. It’s not right to be a deliberate deadbeat about actually coming through.
She’s as big a liar as he is.
Comment by wordslinger Tuesday, Jul 25, 17 @ 1:29 pm
And how much of that was actual classroom money as opposed to increased payments to the pension fund?
And did that increase makeup for the withholding of the various other school related payments?
Does Diana Rauner have any credibility left on her husband’s agenda?

Actually, Bruce didn’t raise it a dime with this last budget. He vetoed all education funding for the next year, Diana.

Looks like someone has been taking some more heat at cocktail parties!
Seriously, who cares what Diana Rauner thinks of Bruce Rauner anymore?
No one is going to believe he has put schools on a better financial footing when the news has been dominated by spending impasse for two years.
In fact, I am not sure bragging about how you have spent more money on X when the news is dominated with stories of how you can’t pay bills you have is a good idea.
But hey, I heard at a cocktail party that Bruce is a heartless Grinch…so let’s do an ad.
Comment by Free Set of Steak Knives Tuesday, Jul 25, 17 @ 1:36 pm
If you believe Diana Rauner, that’s on you, and only you.
Diana Rauner helped orchestrate the purge, and installed folks from a think tank whose budget cut everywhere, hurting everyone.
Diana Rauner also told a whole state that she’s a Democrat and “Bruce has no social agenda.”
HB40 will likely burst the fallacy of “no social agenda” for Bruce, but the millions donated in Diana’s own name to Republicans to target and defeat Democrats should put to rest Diana’s phony Democratic credentials.
Diana Rauner is a Raunerite, worried about “messaging” and like Donald Trump, thinks she and she alone is the “best” messenger to the phony that is Raunerism.
To the Ad,
If you did t know better, Diana does a great job pushing the phony, parsing the words “spend” from “fund”. Diana knows. It’s about the parsing of words.
Diana is great here.
Diana needs to come to a reality that “Bruce vetoed that” will be something for months and months Diana and Bruce might hear, even from schools… with SB1’s AV looking to purposely hurt Chicago students.
It’s about “funding”… but it’s not fun when the message is “Rauner vetoed that” for oh so many things this next year.
Grade?
It’s a solid “B+”
This will be believed, as the “funding” truth will tell a story, just not the whole story, and that’s enough in these videoes
“B+”
Comment by Oswego Willy Tuesday, Jul 25, 17 @ 1:37 pm
Looks like they’re not too confident that people will buy their “But CHICAGO!” excuse for vetoing SB1.
Comment by Arsenal Tuesday, Jul 25, 17 @ 1:37 pm
Once again, a blatant attempt to humanizeuner. He cares, he wants each child to have success, education is most important issue. Mr. Rauner cares about nothing but the next election. He has thrown all education under the bus. Higher Education was almost destroyed, and he and his wife have the arrogance to say he cares deeply. How can anyone with half a brain take these people seriously?

We have learned the have learned the hard way that our Governor has no credibility.
We have suspected this about Diana as well.
This latest ploy only confirms our suspicions about how far the two of them will go to spread their own version of history and their own perverse agendas.
Comment by illini Tuesday, Jul 25, 17 @ 1:41 pm
Billionaires have no shame. Being rich means never having to say you’re sorry.
I hope people in this state are learning not to trust anyone with the last name Rauner.
I don’t trust Madigan either, but he never fooled anyone by pretending to be someone he’s not.
Comment by Blue Bayou Tuesday, Jul 25, 17 @ 1:42 pm
And yet, Rauner has said he will AV the bill knowing full well that the bill will die if his recommendations are not accepted.
Rauner is going to look pretty silly when schools start shutting down.
A smart statesman would have called a special session on property taxes. He could have said, now that school funding reform is finished, let us tackle the property tax issue and I will sign both bills at once. Perhaps, he just isn’t cut out for this type of employment.

Google the timing on that… helping… of Payton Prep.
I can’t think of a single social service president that had a governor that vetoed an entire budget (let’s see how SB1 goes on this whole funding thing) and then would want to do an ad for that same governor, touting that governor as an advocate for… anything…
“Rauner vetoed that”

Dr. Rauner-” We’re doing this for our next generation.”
Yours or the State of Illinois’ next generation? Seems like she has pretty much stood by the bonfire instead of helping extinguish the “no social agenda” flames. Her words and actions live in the silo of early childhood education- and only the format of education The Ounce prescribes. Destructing a state to create a new state order destroys young lives and families. She seems to think the collateral damage is worth it.

Unless they’re applying to Walter Payton, then they’re going to have to accept being bumped. Diana also forgets that she (by way of Ounce) had to sue to get paid.

===It’s about ensuring that every child has the opportunity to be successful in life.===
… and yet, when no one was watching, Diana and Bruce clouted their denied, Winnetka-living daughter… denying a “child” that opportunity to go to Payton Prep…
“It’s about ensuring that every child has the opportunity to be successful in life.”…
… unless… well, you all know what happened. Not “every child” that time… did Bruce and Diana ensure an opportunity. They clouted an opportunity for themselves.

Comment by Annonin' Tuesday, Jul 25, 17 @ 2:18 pm
First he decimated early childhood education/childcare starving and closing centers around the state. He didn’t lift a finger to help the 40,000 kids who still lost their access to childcare while the budget impasse dragged on another year after the partial restoration. Then he vetoed the whole damn budget which adds more money to early childhood ed.
Diana’s organization sued him and urged override.
Diana’s commercial should be downright excoriated point for point.

Can someone remind Dr. Rauner that the increase to early childhood funding was a result of a federal matching grant? If the state did not increase the funding, it would have lost the federal match.
