* National Review…
Veteran political commentators agreed. “Governor Rauner said from the time he was a candidate that he was a fiscal conservative with no social agenda. His wife, Diana, a major Planned Parenthood donor, said they were both ‘social-justice warriors.’ One of them turned out to be a liar — and it wasn’t Diana,” says Dan Proft, a conservative Chicago-area talk-show host and former Republican gubernatorial candidate. “Rauner’s fiscal conservatism never materialized, but the radical-left social agenda did, which is why his poll numbers read like a Chicago thermometer in February.”
Maybe the state party will finally have a comment on Proft now that he’s opening up on Rauner. I’ve asked the party for a response yet again, but haven’t heard anything back.
…Adding… The governor was asked about stuff like this today and here’s his response…
Asked about unity of IL GOP, Gov. Rauner repeats "Reasonable people can reasonably disagree." Says "no group is defined by any one issue.”

* Meanwhile, from the Tribune…
Speaking of Personal PAC, the group is using Rauner’s signature and threats of a repeal of the abortion-expansion bill to promote its fundraising luncheon later this month.
“The ink had not yet dried on HB 40 becoming law before anti-choice state representatives and senators held a press conference announcing their plans to file legislation immediately repealing HB 40,” says an email from Personal PAC President and CEO Terry Cosgrove.
“We cannot let this happen! The 2018 elections will determine the future of HB 40 and reproductive rights going into the next decade. Your support is now more important than ever,” says the email, which then urges supporters to “buy your tickets now” for the group’s Oct. 30 awards luncheon.

To be… honest…
===“Governor Rauner said from the time he was a candidate that he was a fiscal conservative with no social agenda. His wife, Diana, a major Planned Parenthood donor, said they were both ‘social-justice warriors.’ One of them turned out to be a liar — and it wasn’t Diana… “===
… this is as I see the assessment as well.
I’ve been saying that for nearly 3 years, less the “word” Proft uses…
… Proft been saying it first since Besler was dumped and much more pointed after HB40.
The trick here is Proft then turning on those that voted for the budget to stop Rauner’s “non-fiscal conservative” destruction.
But, that’s for the other wedge against Durkin, and another story and prong for Proft to grift.
But, that grab, whew…

It will be interesting to see how this plays.
In Illinois, an attack from the right could be excellent news for Rauner.

I wonder when Cosgrove will begin to label the baby affected as the “Reproductee”. You know, the most innocent party with absolutely no rights.

Proft and Cardinal Cupich. One of these people is a moral center. The other is Proft.

Rauner can’t run his own party, how can we trust him with our state?

Prediction: Rauner’s pro-choice, anti-union agenda will go over huge in New Trier Township.

I don’t think this applies to Rauner.

I think it interesting that the whole purpose behind HB 40 was to put Rauner in a trick box. He ended up signing the bill to the amazement of the pro-choice lobby and the Speaker, yet they’ve said very little to thank him for signing it. You can bet if he had vetoed it they would be all over the State bashing him, and I doubt come election time they’ll remind their folks of his actions.

“Rauner’s fiscal conservatism never materialized…”
Just figured that out now, did you? What gave it away — piling on $10B in unpaid bills? Tens of millions in pinstripe patronage for IT dudes?
Tell your pals Kass and Katrian in tronsylvania. They’re even slower on the uptake.
–Proft calls Rauner a liar–
Like he didn’t know that before, when he took his millions. Like it wasn’t a positive, when used for purposes he supported.

It’s like watching Roseanne and Tom Arnold divorce.
So satisfying.

Just Me,
If you scroll up a little bit on cap fax, to the right, there is a thank you note to the Governor. I am sure those groups will be thanking Rauner all next year in a very public fashion. Mostly downstate.
Comment by 360 Degree TurnAround Wednesday, Oct 4, 17 @ 2:45 pm
Rauner says GOP isn’t a single issue party… the group that came up with the term RINO for anyone who disagrees on a single subject…..
Comment by Ghost Wednesday, Oct 4, 17 @ 2:47 pm
Isn’t Proft the liar? Dan Proft and everyone else knew Rauner was pro-abortion and his donations to abortion groups. None of this deterred them from taking Rauner’s money.

Dan better not expect any more rides in Rauner’s Harley side car. He might have to give back his “I rode with a big fat liar” motorcycle vest patch.

To be fair to Proft, calling Rauner a liar is an objective statement of fact.

Proft calls Rauner a liar because Rauner lied to him and misled him into believing that Rauner was actually lying to others, not him.

I agree. Rauner is at least nominally a Republican. There aren’t enough pro-choice Republicans in Illinois to save him.
Comment by IllinoisBoi Wednesday, Oct 4, 17 @ 4:31 pm
GOP needs to find another issue to get outraged about and there are plenty in the liberal bastion of Illinoid. Their tent needs to be a bit bigger these days, take the wins and fight behind the scenes. DP takes Rauners money then pokes him in the eye…loyalty means something in the business or it used to ? Makes one wonder if Proft is bitter about the primary loss 6 years ago ?

–There aren’t enough pro-choice Republicans in Illinois to save him.–
There aren’t enough Republicans in Illinois to get elected statewide.
He’s going for Independents and if not Democrats, at least to keep Democratic voters at home, as hundreds of thousands of them historically do in off-prez years.
And he figures Republicans will eventually back him, as they historically do their nominees.
Pretty standard Illinois GOP statewide playbook.
Comment by wordslinger Wednesday, Oct 4, 17 @ 6:27 pm
I’d add, if you think Dan Proft has a clue how to win a statewide general election, check out his finish in the 2010 GOP gubernatorial primary.
Bill Brady 155,527 20.26
Kirk Dillard 155,334 20.24
Andy McKenna 148,054 19.29
Jim Ryan 130,785 17.04
Adam A. 111,030 14.47
Dan Proft 59,335 7.73

Eh, I think that farce of a campaign was to make the sugar daddies believe he’s a serious person. Why would Proft want a real job when he can just keep grifting with no measurable results?
