* Phil Kadner…
Even before his re-election video aired, he was bragging in a TV commercial about increasing the state’s education funding to record levels. That wouldn’t have been possible without that income tax hike.
Rauner doesn’t expect people to make the connection.

===Rauner doesn’t expect people to make the connection.===
He’s been getting away with it for three years now, why should he expect people to wise up now?

Rauner knows.
No one will call Rauner out on his untruthfulness.
No alleged Republicabs.
No one will call Rauner out on his untruthfulness at the level of ad buys Rauner will spend to spread his phony.
That’s three plus years.
Rauner knows.

Pretty easy connection to make, if you want to make a minimal objective effort.
Big “if.”
Another easy connection is Rauner’s complicity in the tax increase as seen by his failure to use any of his governmental and political powers to block it.
He could have sat on the tax increase bill for 60 days, then spent his money on media during that time to pick off shaky GOP votes on an override.
Instead, he told legislators to stay in town and vetoed the bill immediately, greasing the way for the successful override.
Actions vs. words.

To be a good Snake Oil Salesmen you have to know your audience — the Gov has a briefcase full of elixirs.

Hmm, maybe it’s the responsibility of people who follow Illinois politics pretty fanatically to do just that?

It’s the job of an opponent to bring this up and take him down with it.

You spelled “snake oil” wrong, A guy.
Probably auto correct. I hat that.

The ads are slick and snake-oily, but they can be easily countered. For heavens’ sake, you counter them every day in about 10 posts per.
We should start writing to our local newspapers, regularly, all of us.

You’re “the one”. It’s not me. It’s just what’s going on.
I’m not the droid you’re looking for. I’m not the droid anyone is looking for, lol. Respectfully.
We all could write our papers, but Rich’s Shop here, as Mike Flannery and others say, is the 800 lb gorilla.
Rauner is using TV and Radio to fly over places like Capitol Fax where Rich is calling the game as even as he always does.
We’ll see what tomorrow brings.

The current state of political coverage is that this can be countered only by the opposition buying ads and pointing it out.
Even the State Journal Register barely covers politics anymore. Finke on Sunday and Bernie on Thursday and Sunday and that’s it. Smaller towns get no paper anymore and the radio, forget about it.
Maybe Sinclair broadcasting….never mind

Re: the 800-pound gorilla, agree +1000. This is the best political blog I’ve ever frequented.
But Rich isn’t alone; there are a couple hundred people commenting on this site who seem to really know the score on one or another issue.
Maybe it’s time for them to begin to make their voices heard and their knowledge available to their fellow-Illinoisans?
Just sayin’…

And he’s got you to drink it: reneging on contracts to Catholic Charities, betraying and humiliating Sen. Radogno, signing HB40.
What can’t he count on you to choke down?

BINGO, a thousand times BINGO. He needs to be called out everyday by the Dems, the GOP who are no longer supporting him and most of all, the Media.
