*** UPDATE *** From the comptroller’s office…
Governor Rauner has been repudiated by his fellow Republicans and Democrats in both chambers by a total vote of 164-3. It is a fact that in just FY 2017, Governor Bruce V. Rauner has fully embraced deficit spending to the tune of at least $2.8 billion that we now know of. We’ll echo Republican State Rep. David McSweeney’s spot-on analysis: “This is another example of failed Governor Rauner’s alternate reality … The governor lost [in the House] 112-0 on the override … The governor needs to provide full details about when he knew about this unappropriated [$2.8 billion.], what his plan for taking care of it is, and how in the future we’re going to address the overspending in the state of Illinois … We need to continue to put the pressure on him to explain this $2.8 billion.”

If Rauner dislikes her, she must be doing her job. He doesn’t relate to anyone who has a professional work ethic. It makes him look bad.

This is a Rauner quote.
Just wait until Mendoza exposes what’s happening in Rauner’s agencies… who is holding what and for how long… then throw in the obvious political ramifications by Rauber’s agencies’ choices and that frame of what was held and for how long…
That’s where the governing and the phony will meet for a Rauner.
He’s knows it.

Mendoza is only in office because Munger was attached to close with Rauner. Mendoza is really spelled MADIGAN and if the R’’s could have found a better candidate then Seger she could be in trouble

Why is Rauner so upset…
Rauner has yet to sign a full fiscal year budget.
When Rauner signs his first full fiscal year budget, then he could be allowed to go after criticism.
Until then, this is Rauner knowing transparency hurts him, like a budget signed with cuts and a tax increase sinks him.
The only good thing Rauner has going for him is Jeanne Ives.
Think on that.

Governor Rauner has positions with which I disagree and has done things I believe are bad for the state, and so I desire for him to lose the election and this particular day’s story does not move the needle either way.

We need a Comptroller in the JBT mold who will Work in a bipartisan manner to solve Illinois problems not a Madigan partisan
I think the Governor is right, investing in IT instead of running useless reports would restore transparency

The dislike between Menoza aka MADIGAN is like the movie fatal attraction. We all know how that ended with both of them going down. I can easily see Rauner spending 5 million to take her with if he thinks he will lose.
And maybe thats npt a bad thing for the state. Remember Mendoza voted for 95% of the tax increase that has this state in the RED big time…

Rauner running against Madigan and Trump will be interesting, since the proxy battle last time… Rauner lost.

But that’s the whole point. Democratic voters voted her in exactly to hold the Governor accountable and earn wins against him. No one wants the state to improve. I post about how it’s weird for people to begrudge Rauner for doing things that make sense politically, and Mendoza is cut from the same (reasonable, incentive-driven) cloth.

I don’t think it’s useless to tell the person responsible for paying the bills exactly how many bills there are out there.

Bruce Rauner had the opportunity to appoint such a person, but instead he chose a comptroller who called herself Rauner’s budgetary “wingman.”

The goal is to suppress turnout, not gin it up… that’s why Mendoza and Frerichs are getting, essentially, passes.

2) The override received the votes of every Republican in the General Assembly except for three. That’s pretty darned bipartisan.
