Much more positive than I’ve come to expect from Proft.

–Thoughts?–
I think Proft doesn’t spend a lot of Sugar Daddy Uiehlein’s money on production values. I’ve got videos from Chuck E. Cheese birthday parties that are better produced and more compelling.
Sweet grift, though.

The shot with him and the eagle was amazing. Granted, he may not have a live one in his office, but that eagle was pretty cool.
Rock, flag and eagle (exclamation point)

It identifies who he is and what he looks like. Not much else. A very weak pass.
After going after the Leader so boldly, this is a pretty soft pay off.

What is the point of this ad? The music is melodramatic. The copy sounds like the IOP crew wrote the script using a book of tired cliches that don’t even make any sense. If this is any indicator of the campaign they will run or the quality of their forthcoming work product, I put the line at Durkin +7.5.

Never seen a positive Profit ad. It’s good.
Not blaming his opponent. That’s a first.
Introducing Mickey’s look plus all the standard good background shots- hugging his wife, American flag tie with photo of Abe Lincoln, giant eagle, kid smiling at the table with dad, speaks well.
Good stuff, don’t think this race is going to be the walk in the park the folks are expecting.
Proft got real close to Sandack last time. If it weren’t for Dem operatives coming out and helping him, plus Dem folks taking R ballots Sandack was done.
No Dems switching ballots for Durkin, they’ve got their own primary this time for Governor, they can’t switch over.

Do I want to know more about Mickey after seeing this ad? Not really. The “answers are easy” quote seems either disingenuous or naive.

Profit is just like Bannon. Neither cares about public policy or winning elections, they only care about embarrassing the people they don’t like.

‘Not looking for a title, just an opportunity.’ OK. So what do you have to offer? This generic vid piece could easily cover a job app, online get to know you, selling HVAC equipment, financial planner, or pastor. All spots are easy stereotypes to fit almost anyone. No idea who he is.

It’s not that great of an ad. I can understand the concept, trying to introduce a candidate, etc. But, its executed so poorly that it distracts from it’s original purpose. If Proft really wants to be the kingmaker he considers himself, he should probably pay for a decent producer.

Who produced this ad? Stephen Colbert?
This is amazingly funny. We need more flag. Where is the eagle?
Having met Mayor Straub, I’m guessing he thinks this ad is “super duper neat-o!”.

Breaking News:
Straub did not file this morning (but a Dem did)

How did they not have to file an A-1 for this? Or has it just not hit yet?
It can’t be an independent expenditure, right? If “independent” means literally anything, I’d think it has to mean you can’t do a direct-to-camera shoot with the candidate. And you KNOW photoshopping that eagle alone costs $1,000…

Has this award winning ad been removed?
Comment by A guy Monday, Nov 27, 17 @ 2:17 pm
So the crux of the ad is: “Mickey wants an opportunity” - with nothing that explains why he deserves that opportunity, or even what that “opportunity” is. Aside from the cool eagle shot, as long as he continues to run this ad, Mickey should consider changing his name to Goofy…this ad accomplishes nothing.
Comment by Dan Soft Monday, Nov 27, 17 @ 3:39 pm
This ad does what it’s supposed to do, introduce the candidate in a hometown, nice guy type of way.
This isn’t the final ad, by any means and it will change tone soon.
2 ads in two weeks going to get ugly real soon.
Comment by DuPage Bard Monday, Nov 27, 17 @ 4:40 pm
More Dan Proft pocket-most-of-the-money and put out a low-quality youtube ad. Why does anyone pay attention to him? He has never won a seriously contested race — ask Senator McCann.
