  1. If you are an Illinois State Senator and you are looking for a sure fire way to lose votes when you come up for election the next time, just make sure you do something stupid like backing state senator Marty Sandoval’s bill. Throw your support behind this bill to allow illegal immigrants to get state-backed student loans and you will be branded as a self-serving politician for the rest of your short-lived political career.

Any elected official that backs this bill has to be taking stupid pills or going to stupid school at night. The state is financially drowning in debt as it is and then a nut case like Sandoval has to go looking for ways to spend even more taxpayer money. Unbelieveable! How do they come up with these characters?

  2. Well now. Does this mean that if I go to Mexico and stay on past my alloted time (in other words, I’m an “illegal immigrant” there) I could get a state backed loan there to study at a Mexican university. Or even if I had a residential visa?

The problem with all of this immigration stuff is that nobody thinks to ask for reciprocity from the countries that are feeding us the bulk of the illegals. Immigration advocates seem to think of the US, or at least some of its states, as welfare for the world, with nary a thought that if American and Illinois taxpayers are welfare for the world, maybe we should get something back for our money. And Mexico has a lot to give. They have huge wealth (although it’s highly concentrated), vast oil reserves, fabulous real estate, an extensive university system, an extensive health system, huge potential business opportunities. But American citizens in Mexico, legal or illegal, have no or limited access to many of these opportunities because of Mexican law and custom.

Until Mexico opens up its markets and its social and health services network to American citizens, including poor American citizens, regardless of their immigration status, I see no reason why we should make it easy for Mexicans living here illegally to have access to ours.

  3. I notice the Tribune article doesn’t provide Illinois’ ranking in electric rates post rate increase.

Wonder why that piece of information was left out?

  4. Someone should point out to Senator Durbin and the other members of our Democratic Congressional delegation that you jerks supported ramming Toddler down our throats, and now you’re shocked that he is a complete idiot and that his administration is wrecking Cook County government?

Here’s a hint, Senator… you saw one of the persons responsible for this mess when you shaved this morning. Now do something about it!

  5. Durbin and Obama should have been more cautious with the Stroger battle. Now they are reaping what they have sewn.

Oh my God! Less lawyers? Whatever will we do?

  6. How on earth can State Senator Martin Sandoval propose the Illinois provide student loans to illegal immigrants while the State is in the middle of a financial crisis? Unpopular tax bills are on the agenda and this panderer proposes a new entitlement program for noncitizens.

In New Jersey, five of six terror suspects entered the USA illegally from Mexico and avoided capture and deportation for almost two decades because of the sanctuary policies (Hello, Chicago!) of their politically correct hometown.

    This is simple lunacy.
